The Vancouver Lawn Tennis & Badminton Club (“the Club”) is the city’s premier racquets, fitness, and social Club. Located just a few minutes from downtown, the Club offers exceptional tennis, badminton, squash, fitness and aquatics programming for over 4,000 members, along with a variety of social events with upscale-casual dining in 3 restaurants.

We are recruiting for aFull-Time****Head Camp Leaderto join our team for the summer!

Head Camp Leader - $21 to $23 per hour

ABOUT THE POSITION

We pride ourselves to provide effective and high-quality service to our members. We look for individuals who are committed team players and can be relied upon by others. This position is responsible for supervising and running daily camps for children ages 6-11 in a dynamic Members - only private club.Successful candidates must be comfortable in the water and have good swimming skills. The leader is required to enter the pool every day to supervise camp participants in the water.

Hours of work:

Head Camp Leader: Monday to Friday from 8:30am-4:30pm

Leader must be available to work Monday-Friday between July 6 - August 21st

Additional hours may be required in June for training and camp planning.

Camp Leader Duties include:

  • Assist the Aquatics & Juniors Supervisor with camp planning including determining weekly crafts, games and activities pertaining to weekly theme as required.
  • Ensuring a safe, fun and welcoming environment for all camp participants.
  • Consistent enforcement of camp rules and procedures including communication of rules daily to camp participants to ensure safe and appropriate behavior at all times.
  • Assigning participants to groups for the afternoon racquet sports portion of camp; communicating with sport coaches.
  • Other duties include but are not limited to:
  • Set up and preparation for each day of camp and clean up and organizing supplies.
  • Keep accurate records of attendance including diligently enforcing sign-in and sign-out protocols with parents.
  • Serving morning snack and taking lunch orders; assisting food and beverage staff with serving and cleaning up of lunch each day.
  • Lead daily games, activities, crafts, and swimming/pool time including assisting younger participants with changing as required.
  • Liaise with parents about behavior issues or other concerns as required.
  • Relays all comments and concerns regarding all camp matters from parents to the Aquatics & Juniors Coordinator in a timely manner.
  • Attend to minor first aid incidents as needed (cuts, scrapes etc).

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience working with children ages 6-11 in a camp setting or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year experience planning and coordinating activities for a camp or equivalent setting.
  • Emergency or Standard First Aid
  • CPR-C
  • National Lifeguard and/or Life Saving Society Swim Instructor certification is preferred.
  • High-Five certification is considered an asset.
