The Walkerton Clean Water Centre (WCWC) is seeking a qualified post-secondary student to support accounting and marketing.
Position: Accounting & Marketing Support (Co-op)
Location: Walkerton, Ontario
Hours: 7.5 hour workday Monday to Friday
Salary: $17.36 to $23.00
Assignment duration: To begin in September for the fall term
The Accounting & Marketing Support Co-op Student will assist with day-to-day accounting and marketing tasks. This role offers hands-on experience in a professional setting and provides exposure to various aspects of corporate accounting & marketing. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and currently enrolled in a post-secondary business administration program.
Key Technical Duties
Accounting
- Responsible for assisting the finance department with all bookkeeping and data-entry tasks.
- Invoicing customers
- Enter customer credit card payments over the phone
- Receive calls for inquires to verify outstanding balances
- Prepare journal entries
- Process payments, customer refunds and credit memos
Marketing
- Provide day-to-day support to the marketing team on various projects.
- Help streamline and continuously improve the process of creating high-quality brand-aligned materials.
- Maintain marketing databases, contact lists (e.g. CRM), and content calendars.
- Draft social media posts and assist with the creation of other promotional materials (e.g., course catalogues, banners, and print-based promotional items)
- Assist with maintaining website (e.g., review items to be posted for clarity, consistency, and engagement)
Conditions for the Successful applicant:
- An official letter from the college certifying enrollment in a minimum of 2nd year of a full-time college program in business administration. An official letter from the college certifying successful completion of at least one year (2 terms – Sept. to April) of a minimum 2-year full-time college program in Business Administration or a related program.
- A minimum completion of one year in a relevant college diploma in Business Administration or related field.
- This position requires strong computer skills and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
- A good understanding of government procurement directives would be an asset.
- A valid class G driver’s license (or equivalent) that is not expired, forfeited, or suspended or access to own transportation is required.
- This position requires excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
