The Opportunity

As Shop Foreman, you’ll be the go-to leader in our Fort McMurray shop, overseeing daily operations and ensuring equipment is ready for the field. You’ll supervise a talented team of shop and field Heavy Equipment Technicians (HETs), apprentices, and shop hands, while coordinating with Operations, Dispatch, and Fleet to keep projects moving.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead, mentor, and support shop technicians, apprentices, and field staff.
  • Assign and prioritize work orders to keep maintenance and repairs on track.
  • Schedule HETs and approve overtime when required.
  • Address day-to-day employee issues (attendance, performance, conflict) fairly and professionally.
  • Coordinate the movement of equipment in/out of the shop and confirm which trucks are ready for CVIPs.
  • Communicate with Operations, Dispatch, and Fleet to align shop workflow with project needs.
  • Promote a strong safety culture, conduct inspections, enforce procedures, and participate in hazard assessments.
  • Work with the Parts Technician to track inventory and order required parts.
  • Maintain accurate records, work orders, and logs using company systems (e.g., SiteDocs, AIMSIO).
  • Track key shop performance indicators and recommend improvements.

What You Bring

  • Proven leadership and supervisory experience in a maintenance/shop environment.
  • Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) or equivalent mechanical background preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach.
  • Commitment to quality, safety, and efficiency in all tasks.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily indoor shop environment with physical demands (lifting, confined spaces, working at heights).
  • On-call availability and willingness to work overtime as required.
