Our Human Resources and Corporate Services Department is seeking an Infrastructure Systems Architect who will a be part of a team responsible for managing and maintaining our company’s server and cloud infrastructure, ensuring its reliability, security, and performance. This role involves overseeing servers in our on-premise data center and cloud infrastructure, monitoring, troubleshooting and collaborating with other IT teams. This person will also play a role in planning for scalability and growth while adhering to best practices and industry standards.
You are an experienced IT professional with a deep understanding of server infrastructure environments running Microsoft technologies. You’re an adaptable professional with excellent problem-solving and communication abilities, and the capability to work in a fast paced environment. You are well versed with technologies such as Active Directory, EntraID, Microsoft Exchange Online, DNS/DHCP, Hyper V, Sharepoint, Azure and the Microsoft 365 suite.
This role:
- Oversees and leads the development, implementation and maintenance of systems architecture for the secure integration of corporate on-premise and cloud-based systems with cloud computing platforms; determines infrastructure requirements to ensure systems are secure and resilient; develops and delivers comprehensive infrastructure operations frameworks using best practices.
- Leads and reviews the administration of system access with cloud computing platforms; integrates new software as a service (SaaS), infrastructure as a service (IaaS), and platform as a service (PaaS) applications; determines priorities, business requirements, and needs for user access.
- Leads, assigns, and oversees the work of a project team engaged in developing and supporting corporate systems architecture to ensure designs align with infrastructure architecture; and maintains liaison with vendors and stakeholders ensure infrastructure design aligns with organizational requirements.
- Develops, establishes and reviews infrastructure architecture standards and guidelines in collaboration with senior technical staff across system areas; works closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements; performs proof-of-concepts; and makes recommendations based on best practices.
- Develops roadmaps and blueprints to plan for the future state of infrastructure architecture; supports enterprise architects and technical teams in identifying and assessing options for systems development; regularly communicates vital information and priorities to senior management.
- Monitors, analyzes and oversees system performance to ensure seamless data flows and data protection; addresses security concerns and ensures infrastructure design incorporates best practices; oversees and supports server infrastructure with the on-premise data centre.
- Maintains currency on developments and advancements for hybrid systems and multi-cloud computing environments, and for infrastructure and systems architecture methods and best practices.
- Performs related work as required.
To be successful, you have:
- Completion of a university degree in computer science or engineering, or other relevant discipline, with training and experience in project management, plus extensive experience implementing and supporting systems infrastructure, with considerable experience supporting cloud computing platforms (MS Azure); or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Thorough knowledge of the methods, principles and practices for corporate systems and infrastructure architecture used for integration of hybrid (on-premise, cloud) systems with cloud computing platforms.
- Thorough knowledge of the capabilities and operations of hybrid systems and cloud computing platforms.
- Thorough knowledge of systems and infrastructure design requirements for data security and resiliency.
- Considerable knowledge of the policies, procedures and regulations that govern the work performed.
- Considerable knowledge of the functions of departments served and their requirements as applied to information technology.
- Ability to design, develop and implement infrastructure operations frameworks to govern the integration and maintenance of hybrid systems (on-premise and cloud-based) with cloud computing platforms.
- Ability to coordinate and oversee the ongoing development and implementation of corporate systems architecture to ensure alignment with infrastructure architecture.
- Ability maintain close liaison with vendors and stakeholders to ensure that infrastructure architecture aligns with organizational requirements.
- Ability to monitor, analyze and oversee system performance to ensure data flows and data protection, and addresses security concerns to ensure infrastructure design incorporates best practices.
- Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills, and ability to communicate complex system operations with a diverse range of audiences.
- Proficient in cloud computing platforms (including MS Azure) and practices for hybrid system integrations.
- Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia.
