About the role

We are now accepting applications for a Certified Plumber to join our facilities team at St. Thomas Centre, to provide safe, efficient, and code compliant plumbing services across Division facilities. This role is responsible for completing plumbing repairs, responding to urgent service needs, and performing scheduled preventative maintenance and inspections.

Daily tasks will require a variety of skills and responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Diagnose plumbing issues and complete repairs from start to finish, including troubleshooting, repair, testing, and clean-up
  • Respond to service requests and emergencies involving leaks, clogs, fixture failures, drainage issues, and water supply concerns
  • Perform preventative maintenance and routine checks to reduce system failures and extend equipment life
  • Repair, replace, and install plumbing fixtures and components (e.g. faucets, toilets, sinks, valves, pumps, traps, piping, drains)
  • Maintain and follow safe work practices, including lock-out/tag-out, confined space awareness, and WHMIS requirements
  • Ensure all work meets provincial plumbing codes, safety standards, and applicable regulations
  • Coordinate with custodial staff, school administrators, and other trades as required to minimize disruption to school operations
  • Create and maintain service records, including work orders, parts used, repairs completed, and follow-up requirements
  • Identify recurring issues and provide recommendations for improvements, upgrades, or replacement planning
  • Support facility upgrades, renovations, and capital projects by providing plumbing expertise as required
  • Participate in call-in after-hours response (if required)
  • Additional responsibilities as required, in alignment with evolving organizational priorities and to ensure the continued effectiveness of divisional operations.

The successful candidate will hold a valid Journeyperson Plumber Certification and possess a valid driver’s license. This role requires the candidate to have a strong knowledge of applicable plumbing codes and regulations, along with demonstrated expertise in plumbing systems, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. A current satisfactory criminal record check, including vulnerable sector clearance, is also required.
