About the role

Pickering Casino Resort is seeking a Part-time Beverage Server on Secondment!

Under the general direction of the Food and Beverage Supervisor, this position is responsible for maintaining the smooth and efficient operation of all sections of the Floor (gambling area) and related guest services through effective time management. The Beverage Server will be responsible for providing gracious level of service to guests to support guest satisfaction. This role must contribute to a safe and welcoming work environment for all employees and must demonstrate the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Above all else, this role must lead by example to create Great Experiences and Memories for all guests and colleagues!

The ideal candidate is an energetic professional with proven knowledge, skills, and abilities, executing the following in support of the company’s vision, mission and values:

  • Exceeds guest expectations by providing outstanding customer service;
  • Takes beverage orders from guests on the gaming floor and related service areas in a timely manner;
  • Prepares beverages as per guest requests;
  • Serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to guests in a timely manner;
  • Makes beverage recommendations you genuinely feel your guests will enjoy;
  • Maintains cleanliness by clearing empty glassware on the gaming floor;
  • Be knowledgeable with the current food and beverage programs, and other restaurant functions and services in the premise;
  • Answers inquiries from guests in a friendly and professional manner. Informs guests of food & beverage specials;
  • Monitors patron’s alcoholic consumption and reports impairment/intoxication to the Restaurant Supervisor/Manager immediately;
  • Anticipates operational and service issues before they escalate, trouble-shoots and resolves guest concerns before they are complaints;
  • Adheres to all AGCO, GCGC, departmental and HR policies as they relate to functions of the role;
  • Ensures compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Successful applicants will demonstrate the following qualifications:

  • At least one (1) or more years’ experience as a server or beverage host working in a fast-paced environment
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent working experience;
  • Valid Smart Serve Certificate required;
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, customer service and communication skills;
  • Must be people-focused and demonstrate a strong commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
  • Proactive and solution oriented with a drive to succeed.
  • Demonstrate strong initiative, active listening and teamwork skills.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with fellow employees and management as part of a team.
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment;
  • Ability to obtain registration as a Category 2 Gaming Assistant with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.
  • Fast paced with multiple priorities, deadlines and deliverables; exposure to some conflict, distress and noise;
  • This role requires extended period of standing, walking, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 30 lbs.

Candidates must be ready and willing to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays and overnights. The hours of work will be based on operational needs. Ready to embark on your next adventure?
