About the Role:

This role is 100% In-Office - Toronto/Ontario

As a CBRE Real Estate Accountant, you will be responsible for accounting activities relating to the maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger.

This job is part of the Controlling job function. They are responsible for the Management of the client’s properties’ financial controls and the preparation of financial reports for management and shareholders.

What You'll Do:

  • Answer questions regarding various accounting issues and reports related to the commercial properties.
  • Prepare income statements, balance sheets, and various other accounting statements or financial reports.
  • Evaluate various accounting variances, reports, and records. Make recommendations relative to the accounting of cash reserves, assets, and expenditures (variance analysis, forecasting, and budgeting).
  • Maintain, record, and reconcile billings and accounts receivables.
  • Create Month-End accounting entries and calculate monthly recoveries and management fees. Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and reconcile discrepancies and posts to the general ledger, including bank reconciliations (SOX package).
  • Have some knowledge of IFRS principles with limited practical experience in applying them.
  • Prepare tenant billings and year-end reconciliations.
  • Participate in audit of financial statements and CAM statements.
  • Prepare monthly HST reports.
  • Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values.
  • Work within standardized procedures and practices to achieve objectives and meet tight deadlines.
  • Exchange straightforward information, ask questions, and check for understanding.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or higher, with up to 3 years of relevant experience is preferred. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered.

  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.

  • Yardi experience is an asset.

  • Intermediate math skills. Ability to calculate difficult figures such as percentages, fractions, exponents, and other financial-related calculations.

  • Ability to use existing procedures to solve standard problems under tight deadlines.

  • Experience with analyzing information and standard practices to make judgments.

  • Organizational skills with a strong inquisitive mindset.

  • Strong work ethic.

  • Enrollment in the CPA program is an asset.
