About the role
What you’ll do
As AI Activation Director, you will be responsible for scaling AI across the Canadian Tire Enterprise. You will be part of the AI Activation COE and will work within a business function where you will integrate the governance, practices, approaches, tools and expertise into the business domain with an objective to scale AI within that business and take your learnings back to the COE to scale across the enterprise.
This is a complex role as you will be required to understand the complex business challenges and opportunities and to build and support the execution of a roadmap using AI and Emerging Technology as a lever to accelerate the implementation of solutions. You will need to have a strong background in both traditional and Generative AI, along with a proven track record of facilitation and initiative to solve significant corporate problems.
- Develop and execute a strategy for the application of AI and Emerging technologies with CTC operations.
- Work collaboratively on emerging tech and AI applications in retail, maintaining up-to-date knowledge and staying ahead of industry trends.
- Work in collaboration with Senior Leaders to lead, advise and support the development of an AI roadmap in service of the True North Strategy.
- Lead and facilitate on-going workshops to continuously identify and evolve opportunities to create value.
- Work with the AI Activation COE to manage squads within the business teams to drive AI POC’s to scale in support of larger corporate strategy.
- Define and track KPIs to measure the impact of AI initiatives on business outcomes and customer experiences.
- Work in service of operationalizing Responsible AI practices within all AI initiatives and provide reporting back to the AI Activation COE.
- Collaborates with training partners and the transformation office to ensure that talent transformation is in line with opportunities to upskill talent, create competitive compensation frameworks and identify new roles for the business and for the Enterprise.
- Identifies opportunities for re-use, scale and collaboration.
- Manages multiple vendor relationships and teams.
- Participates as an active thought leader in the AI Governance Council of AVP’s and VP’s.
- Identifies opportunities for continuous maturity of AI Capability and implements on-going changes.

- Organize and facilitate workshops with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities, clarify challenges, and collaboratively develop AI solutions.
- Establish and lead structured processes for gathering, documenting, and prioritizing requirements from business and technical stakeholders.
- Define and refine the scope of AI products and improvement initiatives, ensuring clear deliverables and alignment with strategic objectives.
- Develop and implement frameworks for tracking progress, measuring outcomes, and managing work across multiple projects to ensure transparency and accountability.
What you bring
- 7 – 10 years of experience in data, analytics or AI Leadership.
- Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD in business, or STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) preferred or equivalent experience.
- Certified PMP, ASM-Agile Scrum Master, Certified Scrum Master/Product Owner (CSM, CSPO, SAFe) preferred.
- Experience in using agile delivery tools such as Jira, Confluence, etc. preferred.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to act as a translator between technology and the business, ensuring business value is achieved through data and AI products.
- Product management skillsets.
- Ability to lead and manage agile teams.
- Experience working cross-functionally in large organizations to complex solve complex problems.
- Deep understanding of data, analytics an AI.
- Relationship-oriented with the ability to communicate meaningfully and influence all levels of stakeholders.
- Storyteller with the ability to translate complex technical jargon and concepts into something simple, accurate and understandable.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and work in autonomy with limited guidelines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

- Demonstrated experience in organizing and leading workshops to drive collaborative problem-solving and innovation.
- Strong skills in requirements gathering, documentation, and stakeholder engagement.
