We are looking for a Maintenance Manager for one of our portfolio companies, BEVO Farms Ltd., based in Langley, BC. Bevo Farms Ltd is North America’s largest supplier of propagated plants, serving greenhouses, field farms, nurseries, and wholesalers across the continent with healthy, pest-and disease-free plants. Operating multiple facilities in British Columbia and Alberta, Bevo is committed to operational excellence and sustainable practices.

Position Overview

The Maintenance Manager will oversee all preventative maintenance, daily maintenance planning, prioritization, and crew management activities for Bevo’s facilities. This role is crucial to minimizing equipment downtime and ensuring seamless operations in a fast-paced greenhouse environment. The Maintenance Manager will lead a team, coordinate schedules, and prioritize maintenance tasks to optimize workflow and production efficiency, ensuring that 24/7 on-call maintenance coverage is provided for uninterrupted support.

Responsibilities

  • Preventive Maintenance Program Management : Develop and administer a proactive maintenance program for all facility equipment, including climate control, boiler plants, irrigation systems, and security devices. Ensure all equipment is routinely serviced to maintain operational standards.
  • Greenhouse Operations
    • Understand and be fully integrated with greenhouse operations and cycles.
  • Daily Maintenance Planning & Prioritization : Conduct daily planning and prioritization of maintenance tasks based on production needs, aligning with the operations team to address any urgent or critical infrastructure requirements. Ensuring all vehicles, equipment, and supporting technical systems are properly maintained and operational within OEM specifications.
  • Coordination with Growers & Operations : Work collaboratively with Growers and the operations team to plan and execute maintenance tasks, particularly those impacting critical infrastructure. Coordinate to minimize potential impact on sensitive plants, adjusting schedules as necessary to maintain plant health and productivity.
  • Equipment Deficiency List : Produce a comprehensive equipment deficiency list detailing any maintenance issues, equipment downtimes, or required repairs. Present this list at the weekly operations coordination meeting to ensure transparent communication and alignment on maintenance priorities.
  • Crew Assignment & On-Call Coverage Management : Lead the maintenance team by coordinating daily assignments, managing shift rotations, and approving time-off requests in alignment with operational needs. Develop and maintain an on-call schedule to ensure 24/7 coverage, minimizing disruptions from equipment downtime or emergencies.
  • Emergency Response : Oversee and participate in on-call emergency support to address urgent maintenance issues outside regular hours, minimizing disruptions to greenhouse operations. Ensure all duty technicians are trained and prepared to respond promptly to emergency situations.
  • Quality Control & Documentation : Conduct routine inspections and document maintenance activities and outcomes, maintaining compliance with Bevo's Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) standards.
  • Team Development : Foster a culture of collaboration by hosting regular cross-functional meetings with the Preventative Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Project Manager, Maintenance Inventory Specialist, and Maintenance Technicians to align priorities and share updates. Ensure all team members understand interdependencies between roles and encourage open communication to resolve issues and optimize workflows. Develop and implement a cross-training program to ensure team members can perform essential functions of other roles during absences or increased workload.
  • Facility Supply Chain Management : Overseeing the acquisition, distribution, and accountability of all materials and equipment as they relate to maintenance of the facility/equipment.
  • Inventory Management/Sustainment : Manage inventory within set financial values. Managing critical spares and materials to ensure the ventilation, irrigation, heating systems and environmental controlling system(s) are continuously upheld.
  • Risk Management – Analysis, Identify and review associated risks to the maintenance plan.
  • Leadership : Lead and manage an effective team in support of the Maintenance Plan.
  • Health & Safety : Comply, implement, and evaluate all risks associated under the Health and Safety Act and company policy.
  • Communication : Communicates effectively both orally and written.

Skills

  • Proven experience in maintenance management, ideally within an industrial, agricultural, or greenhouse environment.
  • A good technical understanding in ventilation, irrigation, heating systems, and environmental controls in order to make dynamic decisions on operational effectiveness over cost.
  • A sound knowledge of the office suite and an understanding of an ERP tool and maintenance software.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills, with a focus on team management and task prioritization.
  • Managing people within a complex, and challenging environment is essential.
  • Ability to manage daily planning and production of an equipment deficiency list.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with Growers, operational staff, and management.
  • Experience planning maintenance around sensitive or time-critical agricultural needs is an asset.
  • Actively participate in cross-functional meetings to share updates, insights, and challenges, fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Commit to cross-training efforts by learning key responsibilities from other roles and sharing expertise in their area of focus.
  • A sound understanding of technical drawings

$120,000 base salary per annum.
