Hiring range:$21.07/hour to $24.42/hour

Salary range:$21.07/hour to $28.31/hour

A little about our Centres for Early Development

At Mothercraft, we are dedicated to providing exceptional child care and early learning experiences that promote healthy development for all families. Our five Centres for Early Development (CEDs) - located in Brookfield Place, Eaton Centre, Robertson House, Midtown, and Avondale - embody this commitment, offering enriching full-day programs for children aged 3 months to 6 years. With extended hours from 7:30am to 6:00pm Monday to Friday, our CEDs are designed to support busy families while providing a safe and nurturing environment where children can excel.

Job summary

As our newestKitchen Assistant/Early Childhood Assistant Float, you will play a crucial role in organizing and distributing nutritional meals and snacks to the children throughout the centre.

As a Kitchen Assistant/Early Childhood Assistant Float, you will...

  • Responsible for organizing children's lunches, prepared by the catering company, and ensure good temperature is maintained prior to serving
  • Organize nutritious morning and afternoon snacks for all children in the centre
  • Ensure food handling standards and quality guidelines are adhered to, as per the Public Health regulations (e.g. cross-contamination, food storage, etc.).
  • Responsible for after-meal cleanup including washing and disinfecting dishes, serving utensils, cutlery, children's bottles, and disinfecting food preparation areas
  • Maintain the kitchen by organizing all serving dishes, utensils, food etc., and ensure it is properly organized and put away
  • Be aware of children's food restrictions and allergies, by ensuring food is labelled
  • When not supporting the kitchen, assist in program by supporting the childcare rooms by providing a safe, developmentally sound, and nurturing environment for young children, as needed.

You will be set up for success if you have…

  • Minimum high school diploma; Food Preparation diploma preferred
  • Food Handler Certificate from Public Health
  • 1 year of work experience in a related field preferred
  • Knowledge in basic nutrition and food preparation
  • Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Immunizations and health assessment in compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act
  • Standard First Aid & CPR C Certificate
  • French language skills is an asset
