About the role
POSITION SUMMARY
The Director, Costing is a key business partner to the MCI, New Flyer and their related fabrication businesses to support the flow of cost information throughout the business. This position is responsible for the oversight and direction of the Company’s cost information in ERP systems including all related reporting, compliance and control activities. The successful candidate will be an integral contributor to the cross-functional bus and coach bidding processes and is responsible for the associated contract margin costing, budgeting and reporting processes.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Oversee ERP system standard costs and related reporting functions
- Oversee contract and other cost compliance matters, including Buy America and Canadian Content compliance
- Direct the preparation of the monthly margin report, including ownership of dissemination to various business unit stakeholders
- Direct the preparation of pricing and margin projection files in support of the bids and pricing processes. Emphasis on continual process improvements to improve bid cost accuracy.
- Identify areas of cost savings or cost leakage and work with business partners to drive profitability and reduce waste
- Key contributor to annual budgeting process and monthly forecast process updates
- Support contract cost audits and analysis as required
- Support internal and external audits as needed and be the process owner for inventory valuation RACM.
- Provide operational and financial support to the NABC management teams and respond to information requests in a timely manner.
- Assist with operational decision making and the assessment of strategic initiatives. Evaluate financial proposals associated with Capital and other investments.
Requirements
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- Post-secondary education with a professional accounting designation, equivalent practical experience to be considered
- 5 years or more experience in a costing, accounting or financial role
- Advanced knowledge of IFRS
- Strong computer skills as well as advanced skills in MS Excel
- Motivated self-starter with experience in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of Oracle considered an asset.
