About the role
Job Purpose As a member of an interdisciplinary team, provides quality patient care (planning, implementing, and evaluating) within the scope of professional nursing practice to meet the individual needs of patients in the Emergency and Intensive Care Units of Horizon Health Network Zone 7 Miramichi in accordance with the philosophy, values, and mission of Horizon Health Network. Although primarily assigned to provide relief for the Emergency and Intensive Care units, may be reassigned to other units in the hospital as required.
Qualifications
- Current registration as a practicing member of the Nurses' Association of New Brunswick.
- Possesses good communication and critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrated adherence to legislation and Horizon Health Network Confidentiality Policy
- to ensure all patient, business, financial and employee information is accessed on an as
- need to know basis.
- Successful completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support Course (CPR) and recertified yearly
- as a condition of continuing employment.
- Certified in IV and CVAD therapy in compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Certified in ACLS or willing to acquire certification at the earliest opportunity, not to exceed 6 months
- Coronary Care Course with rhythm interpretation (BCMI)
- Certified in PALS, TNCC, ENCP or willing to acquire certification at earliest opportunity, not to exceed 12 months
- Must complete required certification for medical delegated functions specific to ER/ICU within 6 months
- Physically capable of performing assigned duties. Must be capable of working 12-hour shifts, days and
- nights, including weekends and holidays
- Patient Safety is a critical aspect of quality healthcare. Successful candidates must be
- accountable for creating a culture of safety, working as a team, communicating
- effectively and responding to adverse events.
- Ability to attend work on a regular basis.
- Good work record.
