ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Social Worker, you’ll play a vital role in supporting clients, their families, and support networks by providing comprehensive assessments and interventions that address psychosocial needs. Reporting to the Clinical Manager, you’ll bring a social work perspective to an interprofessional team, acting as a liaison and consultant across internal and external programs. In this Master of Social Work (MSW) level position, you will have the opportunity to work with autonomy, provide leadership, and apply specialized expertise to enhance quality of life, helping clients build on their strengths, access resources, manage stressors, and improve overall wellbeing.

WHAT YOU BRING

Education/Experience:

  • Masters of Social Work degree from an accredited university with training and/or certification in a mental health preferred

  • Current registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and thorough knowledge of its Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice

  • Experience related to client care for people from Indigenous, mental health and addictions populations

  • Advanced knowledge of values and ethics, theory and best practices of clinical social work

  • Knowledge and experience with referral processes and triage decision guide processes and system navigation assessing and treating individuals with serious and persistent mental illness

  • Experience related to client care for people from Indigenous, geriatric, and addictions and mental health populations

  • Advanced knowledge of family systems and family dynamic skills in working with families

  • Advanced knowledge of community systems and resources for the purposes of networking between the facility/program and other services.

  • Indigenous educational background directly related to social work preferred

  • Training and experience in motivational interviewing and solution focused methods principles in self management and strengths-based interventions

  • Experience/training in a variety of evidence based therapies such as: solution focused therapy EMDR CPT CBT DBT and group therapies ASIST training or equivalent

  • Knowledge and skills in a range of theoretical perspectives psychosocial rehabilitation principles self-management and holistic wellness approaches

Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to manage a complex clinical practice in a health care setting

  • Knowledge and skills in a range of theoretical perspectives psychosocial rehabilitation principles self-management and holistic wellness approaches

  • Demonstrated skills in assessments treatment individual and group counselling

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities

  • Ability to complete complex analysis, using advanced clinical knowledge, skill and judgement to synthesize assessment information, provide a social work diagnosis, and develop appropriate psychosocial treatment plans to address psychosocial stressors that impact well-being

  • Assessment and treatment of complex psychosocial issues

  • Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing

  • Ability to work independently, interdependently, and participate as a contributing member of a variety of teams within the workplace, community, and ministries/agencies

  • Strong time management, analytical/critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision making skills

  • Ability to use independent judgement and maintain confidentiality of records, actions, and information

  • Demonstrated regular attendance at work

Asset:

  • Indigenous language fluency and/or Indigenous cultural education an asset

  • Knowledge of Indigenous worldviews cultural practices and understanding of the impact of colonization on Indigenous populations an asset

  • May be required to attend various work locations and provide own transportation

Conditions of Employment:

  • This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
