Company Description
The Director of Accounting is responsible for overseeing the overall financial and accounting operations of the hotel, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all financial processes. Reporting to the Regional Director of Finance & Business Support, this role leads the accounting team and ensures the integrity of financial reporting, internal controls, and regulatory compliance while supporting strategic decision-making across the property.
The Director of Accounting plays a key role in maintaining the hotel’s financial health by driving operational excellence, strengthening internal controls, and supporting leaders with financial insights that enable informed business decisions

What you will be doing:

Support the Regional Director of Finance (RDOF) in overseeing the daily operations of the Accounting department, ensuring accurate, efficient, and compliant financial practices.

Provide financial guidance and operational support to department leaders, helping them understand the financial impact of business decisions and initiatives.

Review financial performance, analyze variances, and contribute to forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning activities.

Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, capital plans, and rolling forecasts while supporting strategic financial planning.

Prepare and review financial and management reports, ensuring timely and accurate reporting for hotel leadership, corporate office, and ownership.

Monitor balance sheet reconciliations and maintain the integrity of financial data and reporting processes.

Support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with company policies, the Uniform Chart of Accounts, and applicable financial regulations.

Assist in identifying operational risks and implementing internal controls and corrective action plans to protect company assets and operations.
-
Partner with Department Heads to identify opportunities to improve revenue performance, productivity, and cost efficiencies.

Lead, mentor, and develop the Accounting team through effective recruitment, training, coaching, and performance management.

Support succession planning, employee engagement, and the continuous development of departmental standards and procedures.

Perform other similar or related duties as required in support of the Finance and Accounting operations

Significant impact on the financial planning, cost management, budgeting and operations of assigned unit. Decisions made and analytical data gathered directly influences business operating decisions made by management.

Significant impact on the tracking and maintenance of budget and financial performance data for assigned division, on capital spend, and on the accurate and timely reporting of current financial and budget status to management.
Qualifications
Your experience and skills include:

Accounting designation, Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Business, Finance, or a relevant field of work, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience. CPA or MBA preferred.

3+ years progressive work-related experience in multiple areas of accounting and/or capital projects management and reporting, financial and/or business analysis, accounting, merger/acquisition analysis, or a related area, several years managing multi-discipline teams and/or significant complex projects.

Demonstrated ability to assess and understand a variety of internal and external economic and financial issues which impact the business, to analyze data and forecast future business trends, and to develop effective financial plans based on businesses assessments.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written to address all levels within the organization.
-
Demonstrated experience with accounting system or similar financial software for the purpose of financial reporting, analysis and presentation.

Demonstrated leadership in managing and developing people.

Demonstrated knowledge of finance, budgeting, and accounting processes and regulations
