About the role

We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Adult, Youth, Child Worker to join our therapeutic residential programs in North Delta. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about direct support work and want to make a meaningful difference in the daily lives of children, youth, and adults with developmental, behavioural, and mental health needs.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Program Supervisor, the Adult, Youth, Child Worker provides direct day-to-day care, supervision, and support to individuals living in Hollyburn’s residential programs. You will help create a safe, structured, and nurturing home environment while supporting individualized care plans, behaviour support strategies, daily routines, and life skill development.

What You’ll Do

Direct Care & Daily Support

  • Support individuals with daily routines, personal care, hygiene, and household responsibilities
  • Monitor emotional, medical, and behavioural needs throughout each shift
  • Assist individuals in building independence, confidence, and life skills
  • Provide consistent supervision and maintain a safe, therapeutic environment

Behavioural & Therapeutic Support

  • Implement Behaviour Support Plans and individualized care strategies
  • Use trauma-informed, relationship-based approaches to de-escalate behaviours and support regulation
  • Track behaviours, progress, and service plan goals accurately
  • Build on each individual’s strengths to promote success and emotional wellbeing

Programming & Community Engagement

  • Facilitate recreational, educational, and social activities
  • Transport and accompany individuals to school, appointments, outings, and community activities
  • Support community inclusion and positive social interactions
  • Participate in case conferences and school meetings as required

Household & Administrative Responsibilities

  • Prepare nutritious meals and support completion of chores
  • Maintain household cleanliness, upkeep, and health & safety standards
  • Complete daily logs, data tracking, incident reports, petty cash, and required documentation
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, and ongoing training

What You Bring

Education & Experience

  • Minimum two-year diploma in a related Human/Social Services field, or equivalent education and experience
  • Experience supporting children, youth, or adults with behavioural, developmental, or mental health needs
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed, attachment-based, and relationship-based approaches

Knowledge & Skills

  • Experience managing challenging behaviours and using de-escalation strategies
  • Strong communication, advocacy, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with families, professionals, and community resources
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Ability to build trusting, positive relationships with individuals in care

Requirements

  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License (required)
  • Must be 19 years of age or older
  • Proof of COVID-19 double vaccination record or exemption from the provincial health authority
  • Criminal Record Clearance (Ministry of Justice & Ministry of Children and Family Development to be completed during onboarding)
  • Out-of-Country Criminal Record Check (required if lived outside Canada within the last 5 years)
  • First Aid & CPR Certification (provided in-house)
  • MANDT Training (provided in-house; must be maintained)

Working Conditions

  • Location: North Delta therapeutic program home
  • Schedule: Full & Part time opportunities available. Please indicate in questionnaire which days and times you are available to work.
  • Environment: Active, hands-on, team-based
