Metlen Energy and Metals is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join our team in Calgary, Alberta. Reporting to the Regional Finance Manager, this exciting opportunity will play a key role in the growth of our company, and will be responsible for monitoring the country's financial performance, supporting and controlling all financial operations regarding project execution.

Please note, this is a fixed-term contract.

Your Role Will Encompass:

  • Monitoring financial performance of Projects (P&L, cash flow, actual vs budget etc), ensuring accuracy and control
  • Conducting the preparation of regularly monthly / quarterly / annually management accounts, Cashflows, Forecasts and other relevant reports.
  • Participating in project Budgeting preparation in cooperation with Project Director.
  • Participating in contract negotiations (Clients – Sub-Contractors) with regards to Financial issues.
  • Ensuring the accurate and timely recording of financial results, in accordance with local and IFRS standards
  • Ensuring timely closure of finance audit recommendations, participate in preparation, implementation, and monitoring of corrective action plans.
  • Is accountable for the timely and smooth compliance with Local Tax Authorities.
  • Deals with the company’s banks regarding payments, receipts and foreign currency transactions.
  • Coordinates all financial / admin matters with the local authorities in collaboration with the Project Director
  • Coordinates labor and legal matters in cooperation with HQ’s HR & LEGAL Dep.
  • Reports locally to the Regional Managing Director – North America and supports him as required.

What you bring to the role:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Finance or related field
  • Must have a CPA
  • At least 10 years of relevant professional experience (preferably in the construction industry - EPC).
  • Proven experience with managing tax compliance, preparing budgets and forecasts with cross functional stakeholders
  • Financial reporting experience under IFRS and familiarity with key accounting judgements for engineering services businesses and accounting for long term projects.
  • Excellent use of English language (both oral and written)
  • Exposure in international working environments
  • Solid knowledge of Accounting, General Chart of Accounts and Tax matters.
  • Solid communication skills and teamwork mentality
  • Strong organizing and planning skills, problem solving and analytical ability.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office.
  • Knowledge of Xero and cloud applications will be considered an asset.
