The Inside Plant Engineering team is a high-performing group driving TELUS's position as a leading telecommunications company in Canada. As a Design Specialist II, you will be an integral member of this dynamic team responsible for all Central Office-based equipment designs for the TELUS core network. What you will do
Develop proficiency in core Inside Plant Engineering tasks under the mentorship of senior engineers & design specialists, building a strong foundation in telecommunications physical network design and Central Office operations Contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of our Appian-based front-door platform, helping streamline workflows and improve operational efficiency Analyze and visualize network data using Looker Studio to support design decisions and identify optimization opportunities Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders across the build process to ensure timely, accurate, and cost-effective Central Office project delivery Mentor and train team members and internal customers on engineering processes, tools, and best practices as your expertise grows Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to automate processes, eliminate manual work, and drive transformation across the team Liaise with internal customers to understand their needs and negotiate delivery methodologies that set all teams up for success What you bring
Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience
2-5 years of experience in physical network design, engineering, or a technical team environment Proficiency in the Google Suite of applications Familiarity with Appian or other low-code/no-code platforms Familiarity with Looker Studio or similar data visualization tools Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Ownership mindset with a results-driven approach to problem-solving Enthusiasm for learning and willingness to develop expertise in telecommunications networks Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across teams
Great-to-haves
Prior experience with network and inventory tools; including NetCracker, SAP, AutoCAD Background in DevOps, agile methodologies, or software development practices Experience with programming, scripting, RPA, APIs, or AI applications in a technical environment
