Position Overview

ABC Recycling is seeking an Excavator Operator to operate equipment. This role is primarily based out of Williams Lake, BC at the Gibraltar Mine to sort through mine balls. The job holder will be responsible for safe operation of a mid-sized excavator, sorting, and processing scrap metal to specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Sorts and processes materials using various attachments such as the bucket and thumb and Labounty shear
  • Loads and unloads materials from and into various bins, dumps, and trailers.
  • Assesses situational risks and mitigates safety and environmental concerns
  • Performs minor maintenance tasks such as lubrication.
  • Participates in the development and design of processes
  • Assists in the analysis of process improvements and development of solutions
  • Gains awareness of, and contributes to implementing industry best practices
  • Self-manages when operating off site

Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience operating different types of excavators and material handlers.
  • Prior experience with scrap metal recycling, operating a shear attachment or demolition would be a definite asset
  • Mechanical aptitude coupled with strong hand/eye coordination
  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Safety conscious
  • Flexibility with work shifts and ability to travel occasionally

IMPORTANT:

This position is based out of Williams Lake, BC at the Gibraltar Mine that is federally regulated and require regular and random drug and alcohol screening. As such, you will also be subject to an initial and then ongoing random drug and alcohol screening as a condition of your employment.
