Role Description The Senior Buying Manager is a full-time, hybrid role based in Toronto, ON, with flexibility for part-time work from home. This position is responsible for leading the end-to-end buying process, including assortment planning, vendor selection, price negotiation, and purchasing decisions that align with Kotn’s brand and financial objectives. The role involves analyzing sales and margin performance, forecasting demand, and adjusting buys to optimize inventory, minimize risk, and support growth. The Senior Buying Manager collaborates closely with design, merchandising, planning, and production teams to ensure cohesive collections, timely deliveries, and high product quality. Day-to-day tasks include market and trend analysis, building strong supplier relationships, managing buying calendars, and contributing to strategic decisions that support Kotn’s mission and B Corp values. Qualifications Proven experience in retail or apparel buying, merchandising, and assortment planning at a senior or managerial level. Strong analytical skills, including sales analysis, forecasting, inventory management, and margin optimization. Demonstrated ability to negotiate with vendors, manage supplier relationships, and oversee purchasing and cost control. Knowledge of fashion and lifestyle market trends, customer behavior, and product lifecycle management. Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with experience working cross-functionally. Solid organizational and project management abilities, with capacity to handle multiple seasons, categories, and deadlines. Comfort with digital tools and systems used in buying, merchandising, and data analysis (e.g., spreadsheets, ERP or retail systems). Commitment to ethical sourcing, sustainability, and values aligned with a Certified B Corporation. Bachelor’s degree in business, fashion, merchandising, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Experience in a growth-oriented, brand-led retail or apparel environment is an asset.
