Position Summary Clinician Application Consultant, Clinical Informatics, Information Services Your goal in this position is to coordinate, implement, evaluate and sustain Digital Health Systems, which primarily include the Electronic Health Records (EHR), at North York General Hospital. You will leverage your clinical expertise to understand digitization needs, aligning healthcare workflows and digital health systems with clinical best practices. You have in depth understanding of current clinical practices at NYGH, excellent interpersonal skills, and very strong organizational skills. You possess strong written and verbal communication skills and are a collaborative team player who fosters teamwork and works effectively with diverse groups. You will maintain strong working relationships with project team members, multidisciplinary teams, hospital staff, and external vendors. You are adept at problem-solving and demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in dynamic environments. As a dedicated professional, you have a strong interest in digital health systems to enhance quality patient care. This role supports the hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning, and by transforming care through research and innovation. Additionally, you contribute to a shared commitment to health and safety by supporting policies that promote a safe and healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers, and families.

On a practical level, you will

  • Responsible for building and maintaining the enterprise scheduling system and its integration with electronic scheduling orders and patient registration workflows.
  • Work closely with clinicians, departmental leadership and project team member to clarify needs, prioritize requests, recommend technology design, workflow, and execute change and adaptation of the system.
  • Participate in the implementation of digital health systems aimed to support safe and quality patient care.
  • Demonstrate independent decision making as appropriate in evaluation of requests for system improvements and determines feasibility and advisability of system changes.
  • Assist in creating tools to promote and communicate process changes which align and optimize the use of digital health systems.
  • Participate in the development of testing scenarios and test scripts required to validate the design and build. Participate in the testing and validating of the digital health systems.
  • Prepare/support business case development, identifying opportunities, facilitating the proposal process, preparing and evaluating proposals, participating in the response process, and following up on outcomes.
  • Attend and actively participates in project events and meetings.
  • Performs additional departmental duties as required, including first-line support, on-call responsibilities, and other tasks as needed.
  • Work closely with other team members ensures NYGH policies and procedures support Clinical system design.
  • Work in accordance with established hospital safety Policies & Procedures.

Qualifications

  • Regulated Health Professional, in good standing with the respective college
  • Baccalaureate or graduate degree in health informatics or information management preferred
  • Solid understanding of acute care clinical workflows required.
  • Minimum 3 years working experience in acute care setting is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in an informatics department preferred
  • Working knowledge of Oracle Health applications preferred
  • Solid working knowledge of desktop applications such as MS Office
