Job Description Start Rate (Non-negotiable): $43.87 per hour
Contract up to 12 months Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Our Banking Services Office is looking for a Treasury Officer to execute the banking and acquirer operations and ensure the efficient and effective control of all cash flow, and to ensure accounting controls relating to cash and miscellaneous revenues are completed.
What will I be doing?
- Administer banking portal, acquirer (payment intermediary for credit card networks) and card brands user management process as per the policy guidelines as well as maintain existing acquirer set-up and support project teams for new set-up and manage life cycle of acquirer payment terminals.
- Process various types of banking and acquirer transactions with internal and external parties as well as support process and system enhancements related to banking and acquirer operations as well as maintain and update configurations, reports, accounts and agreements for banking and acquirer services.
- Support ad hoc requests, perform reconciliations and analysis related to banking and acquirer operations. Complete investigations into deposits and banking issues including completing root cause analysis and liaising with banking partners to ensure smooth ongoing operations of Metrolinx’s banking function.
- Monitor and maintain sufficient cash levels to ensure funds are available in the Metrolinx bank accounts and flag anomalies as well as Execute and document the banking procedures.
- Provides input to new technologies in revenue and fare collection systems.
- Ensures that the on-line bank draft capture system functions properly in order to effect timely transfer of credit card sales information and funds.
- As required provides feedback, general input to tender documents pertaining to bank services and acquirer services and ensures compliance with contract provisions.
- Retrieves daily bank cash reports and critical value reports and forwards to other stakeholders for reconciliations.
- Notifies Operations staff of discrepancies in cash handling/reporting so as to initiate investigation and follows-up to ensure resolution.
- Transfers funds to cover payments and arranges bank drafts and wiring of funds.
- Coordinates changes with financial institutions and payment acquirers.
- Retrieves daily point-of-sale debit/credit card transactions for ticket sales.
- Forwards credit card file to 3rd party service provider for processing reserved parking payments.
- Process charge back requests from customers, acquirers and card brands.
- Support periodic internal and external audits.
- Provides insights into departmental process improvements, and operational efficiencies such as new technology.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
- Completion of post secondary education in accounting/finance/business administration or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Minimum four years of experience in a computerized accounting environment providing a good working knowledge of banking, payment acquirer/merchant operations and revenue collection procedures.
- Proficiency in the use of Office 365 tools is essential.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Good organizational skills.
