Position Overview
TTC Business Affairs is a fast-paced business affairs/union signatory department. We work with an extensive roster of clients, both big and small, including ad agencies, corporate advertisers, recording studios, production companies, and media houses. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 3 years of significant and relevant experience in broadcast business affairs and talent payments. Must be proficient in Excel, have excellent communication skills, and work directly with clients and personalities of all types.
Client Management
- Manage clients’ talent-related business matters including, but not limited to, talent estimating, contracting talent, and processing payments
- Comprehensive knowledge in state labor requirements as well as SAG/AFTRA/AFM commercial codes for both general market and Spanish language productions
- Prepare client materials based on union contracts and non-union labor guideline including, but not limited to, tax forms, releases, confidentiality agreements, etc.
- Evaluate and resolve labor and union claims and disputes
- Review and assess collective bargaining agreements and labor laws for compliance with client productions and best practices for production
- Create, track, and reconcile estimates for sessions and usage for TV, radio, industrial, new media, interactive, promos, and music videos.
- Negotiate and procure scale, overscale, influencer and celebrity contracts on behalf of Agency and/or Client for the creation of commercial and/or promotional materials. Analyze, formulate, and provide knowledge and guidance to negotiate rights and permissions, terms and conditions, fees, etc. as requested by clients.
- Provide ongoing client training for business affairs/talent payment processes and procedures including talent engagement, guidance on best practices, and rights management for materials
- Memorialize contract terms and manage the contract requirements including, but not limited to, payments, tracking, and reporting of compensation
- Oversee and manage all account transition documentation
- Process invoicing for billing of talent fees with payroll and finance departments
- Create client reports, production reports, completion reports, talent advices, etc.
- Manage Workers Compensation reporting and issuing payments
- Continue training and ongoing education to keep clients abreast of industry trends
Staff / Internal
- Troubleshoot new challenges with teammates to share experiences in order to provide the best solutions for our clients
- Lead or assist on large projects that fall within your area of expertise
- Maintain organized and accurate talent/commercial files
New Business
- Retention of clients through pro-active, problem solving, respectful working relationships and responsive client service
- Expansion of client business into other areas of Business Affairs expertise (e.g., music licensing, IP licensing, production services, etc.) through thorough exploration of the client’s business needs and providing additional services or resources for such
- Attend business meetings as needed
- Help develop leads/research potential clients if needed
Qualifications
- Experience working with U.S. and Canadian performer unions (SAG-AFTRA, ACTRA, UDA AFM/CF
- Experience in advertising or entertainment talent payroll.
- University level business education or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of Canadian Advertising Talent Agreements (ACTRA, UDA, CFM) and U.S. commercial union agreements (SAG-AFTRA, AFM).
- Accuracy and efficiency with numerical data
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; Bilingual (English/French) an asset.
- Ability to communicate clearly and accurately with clients, colleagues, and staff.
- Positive attitude and outstanding client service skills.
- Professional interaction with colleagues, team members and other department staff as well as management and executives in a business office setting. Working collaboratively with team members to meet daily, monthly and quarterly, goals.
- Superior PC Computer skills and ability and willingness to learn new and/or proprietary computer applications as required.
- Organizational skills and attention to details.
- Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Ability and willingness to learn on the job.

- Flexibility: willingness to perform a variety of tasks, often changing assignments on short notice.

- Sedentary – Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Some positions may entail exerting up to 15 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, or pull.

Compensation is commensurate with various factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, qualifications, skills, training, licensure, certifications, geographic cost of labor, and other business and organizational needs. Compensation range for candidates in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location. The compensation range for this position is: $60,000.00 - $73,500.00 per year.
