About The Role:
With a passion for care towards residents, families and team members, the Unit Clerk is accountable for the provision of clerical and operational support in an assigned resident care area. The Unit Clerk will assist the Interdisciplinary Team to be organized and to maintain efficient interaction with other departments and agencies.
What You Will Do:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Resident Centered Care: Promotes service excellence through assisting residents, families, and Interdisciplinary Team members in meeting the needs of residents. - Maintains a courteous, helpful demeanor and consistently demonstrates an ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all contacts. - Provides timely and accurate assistance to residents, families, team members and visitors. - Facilitates communication as required (answering phones, directing messages, using intercom, communicating with external agencies and internal resources). - Promotes resident well-being and independence through arranging appointments (hairdressing, outings, consultations, lab work, and conferences). - Assists in identifying resident transportation needs and arranges transportation, accompaniment and petty cash as required. - Communicates with the residents, families and Interdisciplinary Team members in regards to resident preferences and schedules. 2. Documentation: Accurate, comprehensive and timely documentation of resident care assessment, interventions and outcomes in alignment with Bethany policies and procedures. - Assembles and maintains the Resident Health Care record in an accurate and up to date manner. - Ensures proper resident identification is in place. - Maintains the confidentiality of all residents. - Maintains awareness of the unit’s inventory and completes requisitions for material management when required. - Ensures adequate supply of stationary items and required forms. - Utilizes required forms for ordering and when necessary picks up supplies from other departments. - Completes Maintenance Requisitions as required and maintains awareness of status of repairs. - Photocopies and distributes notices and mail as required. 3. Team Work: Cares for and actively participates and assists other employees to achieve and maintain a responsible atmosphere of resident centered care. - Liaises with Interdisciplinary Team to support resident and family requests for service (pastoral care, palliative care, volunteer services). - Liaises with facility support services to support resident, family and Interdisciplinary Team requests for service (laundry, business office, maintenance, environmental services). - Notifies appropriate team members, using internal communication processes, of the arrival, discharge, or transfer of residents.**What You Bring:**QUALIFICATIONS 1. Education - Grade 12 Diploma - Unit Clerk Certificate preferred 2. Experience - 1-2 years’ experience as a Unit Clerk - Previous experience with geriatrics is preferred 3. Additional Skills - Able to work effectively in a physically and mentally demanding environment. - Excellent interpersonal skills, and strong verbal and written communication skills - Experience and a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
