Why this role is important?
What you’ll do:
- Practice within federal/provincial, regulatory/legal requirements, provincial Code of Ethics, Standards of Practice, and Policies, demonstrating professional integrity and acting to uphold a high level of professional standard of practice
- Ensure all privacy requirements are met, including customer confidentiality in accordance with regulations
- Responsible for ensuring accuracy and completeness of prepared medication by verifying each prescription and ensuring legal compliance and product accuracy and quality. This may include weekly packaged medications, compliance packages, medications in vials, and all non-packaged products
- Verify prescriptions using pharmacy systems
- Responsible for ensuring appropriate corrections of prepared prescriptions are completed when identified
- Responsible for checking prescriptions in an organized and efficient manner to maintain workflow and ensure delivery routes leave at their scheduled times
- Assist with prescription fulfillment, as required
- Prepare prescriptions for delivery
- Ensure proper preparation, packaging, distribution, and storage of all inventory, including those that require special handling and training
- Operate and maintain the prescription automation equipment used to generate and produce prescriptions for client pharmacies
- Ensure that the machines have the correct and necessary supply of medication within the dispensing unit to prepare prescriptions
- Clean and maintain the equipment when necessary to ensure optimal performance
- Ensure proper storage, handling, disposal of drugs and return to stock procedure in accordance with SOPs
- Report and escalate Pharmacy Incidents for medication or privacy incidents (actual and near-misses)
- Keep current and align with legal requirements, professional standards, and where provided, workplace policies and procedures
- Commitment to promoting a workplace of inclusiveness and belonging
What you bring:
- Licensed and registered with the College of Pharmacists as Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT), in good standing
- Liability insurance to legally practice as a RPhT
- A minimum of 1 year of continuous working experience in a pharmacy environment (Long Term Care, Hospital, or Retail)
- Experience with high volume filling environments is preferred
- Experience working with PacMed or PacVision is an asset
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
- Attention to detail
- Complete work with minimal supervision
- Teammate and Leadership skills
- Bilingual (English/French) is an asset
