About the role
TransCanada Turbines (TCT) is the sole authorized overhaul, repair, and maintenance service provider for both Siemens Energy and General Electric (GE) aeroderivative industrial gas turbines, serving an expanding international client base. TCT is headquartered in Airdrie and operates an overhaul depot in Airdrie, a testing facility in Calgary, and three field service offices located across the USA and in the UK.

Position Summary
The Engine Mechanic is responsible for the repair and overhaul of General Electric and/or Siemens (formerly Rolls-Royce) industrial gas turbines.
Duties
The duties will include but will not be limited to the following:

Assemble and dissemble engines.
-
Repair and overhaul of engines (General Electric and/or Siemens Energy industrial gas turbines) in accordance with the applicable OEM manuals, TCT specifications and procedures, and standard industry practices.

Support cleaning, inspection and repair required to meet production schedules.
-
Contribute in a positive manner to the depot and work being performed, in a safety-first culture.

Identify errors and take necessary steps to correct while engaging with the appropriate individuals.

Make ongoing work scope recommendations based upon shop floor observations.

Ensure equipment and tooling is kept in a safe reliable working order. Remove from service any tool or equipment found to be defective.

Make recommendations on policy and procedures to improve shop productivity and profit of the company in general, and to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Preparation of engines for testing in the TransCanada Turbines Test Cell Facility.

Take ownership of HSE issues and demonstrate enthusiasm and support for HSE with a focus on the Health and Safety of yourself and colleagues.

Other duties as directed by the Team Lead, Production or designate(s).
What you bring
- A minimum of a High School Diploma/GED.
- Post-secondary education in the mechanic industry is desirable, but not required.
- Previous mechanical experience in the aviation, automotive, agricultural or heavy-duty industry is desired.
- Integrity, a strong work ethic and willingness to learn and master the engine mechanic role.
- Contribute in a positive manner to TCT, with a focus on health and safety.
- A strong desire to deliver quality workmanship and keenness to learn all areas within the production teams long-term.
A combination of education and mechanical experience related to aviation, automotive, agricultural or heavy duty is highly desirable. Integrity, initiative taking combined with a strong work ethic and eagerness to contribute are essential for success.
