About the role

Clean Harbors in Guelph, ON is seeking an Equipment Operator/Driver (Class DZ licensed) to join their team! This role is responsible to drive/operate to and from worksites, performing pre / post Trip inspections, and performing roadside repairs. This role is also labor intensive that includes tasks associated with hazardous waste clean-up, site-remediation, equipment decontamination and handling of hazardous materials. Working in confined spaces for Tank and Vessel cleaning.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and drive various equipment, primarily; Wet Vac, Dry Vac and Steam Trucks to and from work sites.
  • Tank and Vessel Cleaning.
  • All tasks are associated with hazardous waste clean-up.
  • Individually maneuvering large hoses.
  • Perform Pre / Post Trip inspections
  • Performs emergency response and regularly scheduled activities including, but not limited to chemical and water spills, etiological and biological contamination, tank cleaning, equipment decontamination, etc.
  • Ensure proper use of equipment and immediately notify supervisor of any mechanical failure or problem of equipment.
  • Operates light and heavy equipment including, but not limited to pumps, vacuum equipment, oil spill boom, generators, bobcats, etc.; Handles various hand tools and powered (pneumatic and electrical, hydraulic) industrial tools, including pressure washers and saws.
  • Responsible for safe operation and maintenance of equipment.

Qualifications

  • Willing to travel and work on a scheduled and unscheduled basis.
  • DZ License required.
  • Previous experience operating wet/dry vacuum, combo, steamer and/or Hydrovac.
  • Ability to drive manual transmission required.
  • Previous industrial experience is required.
  • Safety Tickets (First Aid/CPR, H2S Alive, CSTS, etc.) are an asset.
