The Job You Will Perform
- Assessment of structural health and integrity of mill assets such as structural beams/columns, pump bases, concrete floors and foundations. Familiar with corrosion mechanisms and prevention. Seismic and wind load considerations. Underground utilities and ground disturbance.
- Ensure the selection, application and delivery of the technology solutions on-site
- Comply with all safety standards and meet all legal requirements
- Comply with all technology codes and standards
- Provide the best life cycle value
- Plans and coordinates civil/structural work requests
- Complete basic design work and calculations for platforms, monorails, hoists, fall protection systems, elevated slabs and foundations.
- Select and manage capable engineering consultants for complex design assignments
- Provide technical support for optimization of existing processes and equipment
- Provide technical support for site change improvements
- Ensure that “Control” documents are current and available
- Ensure that technical standards (Structural and Painting) are current and available
- Identify and maintain technical skill base
- Reviews and approves site management of change requests (civil/structural approver)
Project Duties
- Responsible for the management and delivery of multiple projects with excellence using the project delivery process.
- Identifies adequate staffing to deliver all project results including safety, schedule, quality of work, cost control, procurement, change management, adherence to specifications and standards, construction, commissioning, start up, document control and communication of activity and results
- Coordinate project development with regional engineering office and multidisciplinary teams
- Coordinate project value improving practice sessions
- Prepare data sheets, specifications, and RFPs for equipment to be ordered.
- Work with procurement personnel to purchase and expedite equipment
- Review vendor drawings and documentation.
- Coordinate and review inspection and quality control services for fabricated equipment.
- Prepare vendor scope/cost/schedule change orders.
- Safely manage the project construction phase
The Skills You Will Bring
- Bachelor Science of Civil/Structural Engineering or Registered Civil Structural Technologist. 2 – 5 years of experience. Engineering in Training, Registered Professional Engineer or Technologist with APEGA. Ability to stamp civil structural drawings or actively workings towards professional stamp
- Previous experience with structural steel and reinforced concrete design, construction materials management and building codes and standards
- Knowledge of construction methods, coatings/linings and basic surveying
- Experience using AutoCAD, SolidWorks and SAP
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and proven ability to collaborate with team members in a multi-disciplined environment.
- Technical competence and strong attention to detail.
- Experience in both design and project management
- Willing to work in an industrial setting
