The Role:
The Health & Safety Coordinator is a hands-on safety lead responsible for supporting and enforcing regulatory compliance across all managed properties. Reporting to the Health & Safety Officer, this role plays a critical part in implementing the company’s Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Program and ensuring full compliance with applicable provincial legislation, and industry best practices for the Richcraft Property Management Department.
This position requires a proactive field presence, strong knowledge of Canadian industrial and commercial safety regulations, the ability to influence safe work practices across multiple job sites and build safety policies and procedures to support work processes.
In This Role, You Will:
- Ensure compliance with applicable provincial Occupational Health and Safety legislation and regulations.
- Support compliance with WSIB requirements
- Prepare for and participate in regulatory inspections and audits.
- Maintain required postings, documentation, and site-specific safety plans.
- Monitor legislative updates and recommend policy revisions as required.
- Conduct regular site inspections of active projects, and managed properties.
- Identify hazards, issue corrective action notices, and follow up to ensure resolution.
- Stop unsafe work when required and escalate concerns to management.
- Monitor high-risk activities including working at heights, confined space entry, hot work, and equipment operation.
- Deliver and coordinate safety training
- Conduct new hire and subcontractor safety orientations.
- Organize toolbox talks and site safety meetings for Richcraft and trade personnel
- Maintain records of training, certifications, and competency tracking.
- Support Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) activities and documentation requirements.
- Review subcontractor safety documentation making sure they are up to date
- Monitor subcontractor compliance with company and regulatory safety standards.
- Liaison between head office/property management team and occasionally tenants
What You Bring:
- 3–5 years of building/property management
- Safety experience in Canada for industrial/commercial properties.
- Strong working knowledge of provincial OHS legislation.
- Working knowledge of HVAC/Heating and Refrigeration, Plumbing and Electrical Systems
- Experience inspecting Boiler rooms, fire suppression systems etc.
- Experience writing policies and procedures specific to industrial/commercial work and safety processes
- Field-based leadership and presence
- Incident investigation and root cause analysis
- Valid certifications: WHMIS, Working at Heights (as applicable by province), First Aid/CPR. Other training as required by Richcraft
- Strong documentation, reporting, and investigation skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to multiple sites.
- Strong regulatory and compliance knowledge
- Strong communication, organizational and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work independently under the direction of the Health & Safety Officer
Salary Range: $50,000 - $60,000
