About the role

We are looking for a Technician to join our busy Peterborough location! This is a PART-TIME position, working 3 days/24 hours per week with the opportunity for more hours depending on business needs. There is the possibility of this role becoming full-time in the future. The hourly rate will commensurate with experience.

The Role:

Technicians are the face of Motion, delivering outstanding customer experiences every day. You will work directly with clients to understand the issues with their equipment and troubleshoot to solve the problem. You will travel to different sites, both private residences and community facilities, to accommodate client needs. You will be trained on the tools you will be working with and the equipment you will be repairing.

How you will spend your days:

  • Using a company vehicle, you will travel through the region to attend multiple client appointments each day.
  • You will quickly learn how to repair wheelchairs and custom mobility equipment and how to navigate our software system. You will assess issues with manual and power devices, troubleshoot batteries and functionality, and repair equipment.
  • Prepare for daily appointments by reviewing schedule to understand client needs and gathering necessary tools or parts for the mobility equipment being assessed/repaired.
  • Work with clients to understand the issue they are experiencing and provide solutions and advice for ensuring an effective resolution.
  • Prepare quotes for parts needed and follow up with correct department to ensure parts are ordered and delivered.
  • Attend appointments with Sales Consultants to assist with dispensing new equipment and provide any fixes or adjustments the client may need.
  • Deliver and install home accessibility equipment such as beds or bathroom safety items.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure information shared is accurate and any necessary follow up is completed.

As a Technician, you will prioritize an empathetic, respectful, and friendly customer experience. You will ensure that clients’ needs are met and that we meet our objective to make life accessible for everyone.

What you bring:

  • Technical skills. You have previous experience in customer service and assembling or repairing equipment. You have exposure to using diagnostic tools and power equipment. You genuinely enjoy learning new tools and approaches to solving tactical challenges.
  • Empathy. You can navigate any situation in a friendly, professional, and compassionate manner. You can prioritize the comfort and urgency of clients. You can manage conflict, act with responsive patience to client demands, and understand the impact their mobility devices have on their lives.
  • Additional must-have requirements. You have a valid G-class driver's license and a clean driving record. You will be provided with a company vehicle and will travel regularly throughout the region. You have a clean criminal background check and are bondable. You can lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
