Job Description
Position Summary
We are seeking an Intermediate or Senior Architectural Technologist who brings a passion for design, precision in technical documentation, and a strong foundation in Contract Administration. This dual-role position is ideal for a seasoned professional who thrives in both the studio and on-site environments, ensuring that design intent is carried through to construction with clarity, compliance, and care.
Architectural Technology
- Lead the development of detailed design and construction documentation for complex architectural projects.
- Prepare, review, and coordinate drawings, specifications, and permit packages.
- Ensure compliance with Alberta Building Code, municipal bylaws, and applicable standards.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and consultants to deliver integrated design solutions.
- Mentor junior technologists and contribute to technical excellence across the team.
Contract Administration

Act as the primary liaison between design team, client, contractor, and authorities during the construction phase.

Conduct general reviews (field reviews) to ensure work conforms to contract documents and quality standards.

Review and certify contractor payment applications, change orders, and supplemental instructions.

Interpret contract documents and provide timely guidance to resolve site issues.

Maintain detailed records of site visits, communications, and construction progress.

Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, conditions, and obligations.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the below requirement, at a very minimum:
- Diploma or degree in Architectural Technology plus four years (4) of experience working within an Architectural practice or in a related field and equivalent experience including contract administration.
- Strong knowledge of Alberta Building Code and construction practices.
Preferred Qualifications

Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.

Familiarity with construction management platforms (e.g., Autodesk Construction Cloud).

Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
-
LEED, WELL, or Passive House accreditation is an asset.
