QUALIFICATIONS
- Grade 12 education (MB Standards)
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Training as delineated in Prairie Mountain Health Policy PPG-00002 CPR Training
- Knowledge and experience in nursing unit clean up, appropriate use of disinfectants, cleaning and reassembly of equipment
- Evidence of understanding the principles of basic asepsis and infection control
- Demonstrated organizational skills, and the ability to work independently
- Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills
- Demonstrated flexibility to facilitate changes in techniques and procedures in a changing environment
- Demonstrated knowledge and competence of skills and concepts related to the position
- Demonstrated communication skills
- Ability to respect and promote confidentiality

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Program Manager or delegate, performs primarily indirect and some direct care activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Overview:

Under the general direction of the Program Manager and guidance of the nursing staff, the incumbent is responsible for:
- Transporting patients to and form various locations in the hospital.
- Performing a variety of post-delivery cleaning tasks to ensure aseptic conditions.
- Assisting with positioning and holding patients as directed.
- Transporting sterile/un-sterile supplies to/from the designated unit and appropriate areas within the hospital.

Direct Nursing Care Activities:
- Transporting patients from areas within the hospital to and from the obstetrical unit.
- Assist in positioning or holding patients are required.

Indirect Nursing Activities:
- Clean furniture, fixtures, floors, and walls between cases/procedures according to unit procedures.
- Perform general cleaning according to schedule.
- Wash instruments.
- Take soiled CSR equipment to CSR pickup for delivery.
- Handle soiled linen according to blood and body fluid requirements.
- Order linen, stores and CSR supplies.
- Restock linen and supplies.
- Clean, store, care for, and transport equipment.
- Deliver and pickup patient meal trays.
