Duration: 8 weeks (Full-time, 35 hours/week)

We focus on creative solutions to address the affordable housing crisis in Toronto, Brampton, Caledon, York Region and Durham Region. With the help of volunteers, donors and community partners, we unlock change for generations by bringing the benefits of home ownership to more people and communities. Since 1988, Habitat GTA has built 23 new communities, empowering more than 500 families.
What You Will Do
- Represent Habitat for Humanity GTA as a Brand Ambassador by modeling our values and guiding principles
- Assist with volunteer recruitment and onboarding (research of platforms and community partnerships, data entry, email campaigns).
- Maintain volunteer database and update records in Volunteer Management System, i.e.: Volunteer Hub.
- Support volunteer communications (email campaigns, newsletters, social media posts).
- Help organize volunteer appreciation and recognition initiatives, i.e.: milestone award ceremonies.
- Provide administrative support for training sessions.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving volunteer recruitment, engagement, and appreciation.
Skills and Qualifications
- Must be Fluent in English
- Must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident

Training/Supervision Plan
The position will be mentored by Supervisor Manager, Volunteer Resources
- Weekly Progress Meetings: Formal review of completed tasks, challenges, and learning goals.
- Mid-Term Evaluation: At week 8, review progress and adjust goals for remaining weeks.
- Shadowing Opportunities: Observe senior staff during strategic planning and volunteer engagement sessions.
- Open-Door Policy: Supervisor available for questions and guidance throughout the day through MS Teams.
- Use of Collaboration Tools: Microsoft Teams and shared calendars for task tracking and communication.

About Habitat for Humanity GTA
Founded in 1988, Habitat for Humanity Greater Toronto Area (GTA) is a nonprofit housing organization working toward a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live. We mobilize communities to help working, lower income families build strength, stability and independence through affordable homeownership. With the help of volunteers, donors, and community partners, we provide a solid foundation for better, healthier lives for families in the GTA. Since 1988, Habitat for Humanity GTA has built more than 360 homes for families, including over 1,300 children, in need of safe, decent, and affordable housing.
Our houses are sold to partner families at no profit and are financed with affordable, no-interest mortgages that are geared to the family’s income level. In lieu of a down payment, Habitat homeowners volunteer 500 hours of sweat equity on our build sites and at our ReStores. Through our unique affordable homeownership model, we offer families a hand up, empowering them to build better lives for themselves and their children.
In support of our homebuilding, Habitat for Humanity GTA operates retail home improvement stores called Habitat ReStore. Our 11 locations across the GTA sell new and used donated home furnishings, appliances, and renovation materials to the public at a fraction of the original price. Habitat ReStore collects donations from the community, and proceeds from sales help cover the cost to build homes for families.
