Job Description

This Health Canada project will develop a CANMAT national evidence-based clinical practice guideline on menopause and mental health. The guideline will support clinicians in providing high-quality assessment and treatment, while educating patients and families about what to expect when seeking care. It will also involve stakeholder engagement, including collaboration with the Canadian Menopause Society (CMS), the Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (SOGC), and The Menopause Society, and will focus on mood, anxiety, sleep, cognition, and trauma-related issues during menopause.

Job Summary:

The Research Coordinator (RA II) will support the oversight of a Health Canada study aiming to develop a national clinical guideline of best practices in identifying and treating mental health related concerns during menopause in Canada. The individual will work closely with and assist Dr. Benicio Frey and study team members in research and program administrative tasks, including but not limited to systematic review and epidemiological tasks, as well as with stakeholder engagement.

Purpose and Key Functions:

  • Report to the project lead.
  • Oversee the work of two Research Assistants.
  • Communicate with the advisory panels.
  • Develop the online surveys and communications to the advisory panels.
  • Work closely with the Core Editorial Group.
  • Work closely with each Section group.
  • Coordinate meetings and manage agendas/minutes.
  • Help conduct literature reviews, title, abstract and full text screen, and synthesize the evidence with summary evidence tables.
  • Copy-edit drafts and manuscripts.
  • Assist with the development of the knowledge dissemination materials (Patient & Family Guide, and the Clinician Pocket Guide).

Requirements:

  • Graduate degree in a related field, Epidemiology, Health Sciences, Public Health etc.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience working in research environment and/or an academic hospital

Assets:

  • Strong knowledge of research methods and theory in health research related discipline

  • Experience with software for systematic reviews and meta-analyses

  • Working knowledge of a standard statistical software library and relational database design

  • Substantive knowledge in health-related discipline to provide content expertise

  • Scientific writing skill, ability to write and communicate effectively to scientific/technical audiences

  • Detail-oriented with strong data analysis and interpretation skills

  • A proven track record of successful project management in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to demonstrate excellent project performance including attention to client satisfaction, and adherence to budgets and timelines.

  • Consolidate and communicate high quality science clearly and imaginatively to different audiences

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Computer competency including MS Access, MS Word, and MS Excel

  • Knowledge of planning and management processes in healthcare, ideally with first-hand knowledge of health services research

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment with a wide variety of people at different levels

  • Ability to take initiative and lead a diverse group of individuals

  • This position plays a critical role in acting as an advocate for safety and will demonstrate principles, practices and processes that will optimize a safe environment for all
