About the role

  • Cake Decoration: Apply icing, glazes, and decorative finishes to cakes using both manual and mechanical tools, perform other finishing work including but not limited to: cake cups, cup cakes, squares, tray bakes, custard based pies, etc.
  • Detail Work: Execute specific decoration techniques such as piping, airbrushing, and garnish placement, following design standards or custom orders.
  • Consistency & Quality: Ensure all cakes meet appearance, weight, and texture specifications. Follow SOPs for consistent results.
  • Efficiency: Work in a fast-paced assembly line environment, meeting production quotas and timelines.
  • Material Handling: Properly handle icing, fillings, and toppings to minimize waste and maintain freshness.
  • Cleaning & Sanitation: Maintain a clean, organized workstation and adhere to food safety, sanitation, and GMP standards.
  • Inventory & Supplies: Monitor usage of decorating supplies and report shortages or equipment issues to supervisors.
  • Team Collaboration: Coordinate with baking, mixing, and packaging teams to ensure smooth production flow and product integrity.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in cake decorating or finishing in a commercial bakery or production setting.
  • Strong attention to detail and a steady hand for intricate decoration.
  • Ability to work with speed and precision in a high-volume environment.
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices in a food manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Familiarity with industrial decorating tools and equipment is a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • Work in a temperature-controlled production area (cool or refrigerated).
  • May require early morning, evening, weekend, or holiday shifts.
  • Use of PPE including hairnets, gloves, and safety shoes is mandatory.
