Job Description POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:

The Community Ministries Worker C - assists in the organization and distribution of food bank donations and Host the Hope Cafe.

Accountabilities

  • Consistently demonstrates empathy and concern for clients/families.
  • Provides emergency food hampers to clients as directed by counselors/caseworkers or supervisor.
  • May assist in the maintenance of client files and statistical records, as directed.
  • Assists in the organization, maintenance, and general cleanliness of the Food Bank and/or Meal Centre, etc.
  • Receives (and/or declines) and sorts/organizes non-monetary donations or purchased products following standard procedures.
  • Supports the Community Meal Program
  • Sets up and maintains café refreshments station.
  • Assures café is clean and tidy before open and after closing
  • May be responsible for ensuring safe handling of hazardous materials.
  • Arranges for discarding of items that are not used as per the policy.
  • May direct work of volunteers assisting in the Food Bank.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Reports directly to: Executive Director
  • Direct reports for this position: None

FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT : POS terminals and handling of cash at till

  • Monitor departmental expenditures and liaise with auditors or funding officials.
  • Regular responsibility for minor financial matters and for wise use of own resources.
  • May be authorized to handle small amounts of cash.
  • Minor material responsibility.

Working Conditions

  • Work environment is typically in an office, thrift store or sorting room.
  • May require standing long hours
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs

Education And Experience Qualifications Education, Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Completion of grade 12
  • Background check consent
  • A clear vulnerable sector screening
  • Clean drivers abstract
  • Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training

Experience And Skilled Knowledge Requirements

  • Up to three (3) months of prior related experience, including, experience working with multi-barrier persons.
  • The performance of the job requires a frequent number of loading/unloading trucks, handing out hampers, receiving/sorting out donated or purchased goods, and occasional computer work.
  • The performance of the job requires attentive listening (empathy to clients/volunteers), and attention to occasional computer work.
  • Ability to speak English, Arabic and other languages.

Compensation The target hiring range for this position is $17.85 to $20.64 with a maximum of $24.77.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
