Your role
As the Operations Manager, South, you will support our vision and values by managing the development, operation, and administration of territorial parks within the South Yukon Region, including natural environment parks, campgrounds and recreational day-use sites. You will oversee the planning, delivery, and evaluation of a diversity of programs and services, while ensuring environmental integrity and incorporating risk management into decision-making.
Working as part of the Parks Branch management team and reporting to the Director of Parks, you will demonstrate leadership by ensuring regional flexibility and adaptability, maintaining program effectiveness, and fostering a client- and stakeholder-focused approach. You will also be responsible for monitoring, compliance, and enforcement of regulations under the Parks and Land Certainty Act (PLCA). Success in this role depends on your ability to balance strategic and operational demands, while working in alignment with land claim agreements, legislation, and government directives.

- A degree in natural resources management, parks planning and administration, land management, or a related area of study.
- Considerable experience in park, forestry, campground, or public facility planning, management, interpretive services delivery, and operations.
- Significant experience managing and directing teams, preferably multi-functional teams.
- Significant experience managing staff, financial resources, and budgets.
- Significant experience working collaboratively with First Nations governments.
- Experience interpreting and applying compliance and enforcement regulations would be an asset.
- Experience managing parks programs and visitor services would be an asset.
Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the above qualifications may be equally considered.
