Are you energized by supporting learners across a wide range of subject areas and passionate about fostering meaningful academic engagement? We’re looking for dedicated Facilitators to support high quality Liberal Studies courses in an asynchronous environment.

In this role, you will guide learners through course content, encourage thoughtful discussion, monitor progress, and provide timely feedback that strengthens analytical thinking, broadens perspectives, and supports learner success throughout their program.

###What’s on Your Horizon

Delivery Mode: Online, Asynchronous
Summer Semester: May – August

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate engaging online learning experiences for undergraduate adult learners.
  • Deliver course content, moderate discussions, and support learners using Seneca’s Blackboard LMS.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback and evaluate learner progress according to program standards.
  • Maintain clear, professional written communication throughout the course.
  • Collaborate with academic leadership on course delivery expectations as needed.

###What You Bring to Seneca

  • Completed PhD in a relevant discipline within the humanities, social sciences, communication studies, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting undergraduate learners in a postsecondary environment, including academic guidance, feedback, and learner engagement
  • Proficiency using Blackboard or similar Learning Management Systems to facilitate online learning.
  • Experience facilitating learning in an asynchronous online environment, including moderating discussions, providing timely feedback, and supporting learner success.
  • Strong digital literacy, including proficiency with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and common instructional technologies.
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, professional, and supportive feedback and to engage learners effectively in an online setting.

We welcome applicants from a wide range of academic backgrounds. However, given current course needs, expertise in one or more of the following areas is highly valued:

-Political Science -Sociology -Communications / Digital Communications -Gender Studies / History -Media Studies / Sports Studies -History -Astronomy / Physics

Candidates with interdisciplinary backgrounds and the flexibility to teach multiple Liberal Studies breadth courses are strongly encouraged to apply.

Your compensation step will be determined based on receiving and verifying relevant formal education through official transcripts and relevant work experience, in accordance with the salary placement calculation.
