- You will play an important role in:
As part of the construction of the Des Neiges Wind Farm – Charlevoix sector, a major project worth over $1 billion located in the Charlevoix RCM, Boralex is looking for a Wind Farm Construction Manager.
Reporting to the North American Construction Director, you will act as the project owner in the field. You will be responsible for the execution of the work, the coordination of major contractors (BOP, turbine manufacturer, substation), meeting deadlines, and controlling costs and quality.
As part of the project's construction activities, you will have the following responsibilities:
- Supervise the execution of construction work on site, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, environmental performance, and regulatory compliance standards.
- Manage operational coordination between the various contract lots (BOP, turbine, electrical substation) in order to optimize interfaces and reduce the risk of conflict or delays.
- Coordinate internal teams (engineering, procurement, legal, regulatory affairs, etc.) and external partners (contractors, consultants, local authorities);
- Participate in detailed project planning, ensure that the schedule is kept up to date, and ensure that key milestones are delivered;
- Lead and facilitate site meetings in French and English, produce follow-up reports, and proactively escalate critical issues;
- Develop and/or deploy the management and control tools necessary for rigorous project governance;
- Monitor construction budgets, approve payments, analyze variances, and contribute to financial forecasts;
- Prepare, negotiate, and document contractual changes in collaboration with the relevant managers;
- Represent Boralex on site to stakeholders and help maintain a climate of collaboration and transparency.
- To succeed in this position, you must have:
- A bachelor's degree in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering (or any other relevant training);
- A minimum of ten years of relevant experience in managing major projects (over $100 million);
- Relevant experience in the construction of wind farms or electrical infrastructure is a significant asset;
- Strong skills in planning, contract management, budget analysis, and risk management;
- Recognized leadership, rigor, initiative, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent critical analysis skills;
- Excellent ability to work with multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple stakeholders simultaneously; Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and MS Project;
- Bilingualism (French and English);
- Valid driver's license.
This position requires presence on the construction site; work schedules and frequency of visits are to be discussed.
