ENVIRONMENT ALLOWANCE (hourly rate based on a 40hr/week):

  • Employee with dependants: $3.42 hourly ($7,129 per year)

  • Employee without dependants: $2.05 hourly ($4,277 per year)

LIVING COST DIFFERENTIAL (hourly rate based on a 40hr/week):

  • Employee with dependants: $4.03 hourly ($8,419 per year)

  • Employee without dependants: $2.42 hourly ($5,051 per year)

Duties

The position requires 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional overtime as needed.
Perform skilled mechanical maintenance, repairs and modifications of heavy and light equipment at Wabush Airport. Equipment includes, but not limited to, heavy snow clearing equipment, snow blowers, runway sweepers, maintenance equipment, light vehicles, Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) trucks.
This position plays a vital role in maintaining the operational readiness of snow clearing and ice control equipment during winter operations.
This position operates independently to provide essential support to airport operations.

Possess a valid Red Seal endorsement in Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (HDET).

EX1. Recent* experience in the repair and maintenance of commercial diesel vehicles or heavy equipment and small vehicles.

EX2. Experience in investigating and solving problems related to mechanical, electrical, or software systems. This can include but is not limited to providing a diagnosis and testing.

EX3. Experience applying safe practices and procedures to ensure a safe working environment such as the handling and disposal of contaminated or hazardous materials.

  • Hold a Class 3 Driver's License with Air Brake endorsement.
  • Ability to safely lift weights up to 20 kg (44 lb).
  • Willingness and ability to wear safety shoes and other personal protective equipment (PPE) as required under the Canadian Labour Code and approved by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA).
