About the role

Join our team

Our team spends our days supporting the Marketing Communication team’s strategic decision making, budget allocation, and planning. We support the TELUS Consumer Solutions portfolio, including TELUS, Koodo and Public Mobile brands. In this exciting role, the Marketing Manager (Budget & Finance Specialist) will be responsible for managing our Advertising & Promotions (A&P) budgeting process across various brands and business units in our portfolio. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of financial processes including budget tracking and management, accruals, Statement of Work (SOW) management and invoice management, and will be a highly organized, process-driven collaborator, with strong analytical acumen.

Here’s the impact you’ll make and what we’ll accomplish together

  • Manage the A&P budget and maintenance of our Master Budget file throughout the year, including changes, cuts, reallocations, incremental spend and reclasses
  • Own end-of-month and end-of-year process and deliverables, including accrual submission, reclasses and triage, working closely with our Finance team
  • Manage SOW creation process in FieldGlass between our team, our primes and our agency partners
  • Analyze budget trends and patterns as needed to assist with strategic decision making; support the Marketing Communications teams by providing budget views throughout the year for reporting purposes as needed (eg. Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), Campaign Reporting, YoY analysis, etc.)
  • Bring various groups and primes together for budget change alignment as needed
  • Support the Manager of Strategy & Planning, Marketing Communications Directors and fellow team members to set, forecast and share annual A&P budgets, updating as needed throughout the year
  • Suggest and promote budget efficiencies in partnership with the team in order to better allocate funding to working media dollars
  • Act as the point of contact for all budget and billing issues, working with our Finance, Fieldglass and SAP teams as needed; assist team members with budget processes and workflow steps as needed, sharing knowledge and expertise across the team
  • Assist with agency and campaign scorecards

  • Consistently demonstrating strong project management skill sets focused on setting goals and optimizing performance

  • Your attention to detail and analytical skills is apparent in your ability to create and present highly detailed financial insights

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work with diverse groups and partners to achieve outcomes that drive success for our teams

  • Positive attitude and collaborative by nature with a strong drive to support team members

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and operate independently; adaptable and able to navigate a complex organization

  • Constantly looking for ways to improve our processes and ways of working, taking the initiative to make change and drive enhancements

Qualifications

  • A degree in Business Administration and / or accounting accreditation
  • Experience in proactively managing budgets, forecasting, adjusting & accruing
  • Working knowledge of SAP and Fieldglass
  • Work with visualization tools (Tableau and Domo)
  • Knowledge of the Google suite of applications, notably Slides and Sheets
  • Knowledge of Marketing practices and A&P is considered an asset
  • Highly organized, process-oriented and strong analytical skills
  • Action-oriented personality with strong business acumen and data-driven approach
  • Expert knowledge of data and analytic techniques that incorporate well into storytelling

Salary Range: $71,000-$107,000

Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan: 12%
