London Health Sciences Centre Research Institute (LHSCRI) provides scientific leadership aligned to the strategic plan and clinical strengths of LHSC. Discovery-based scientists, clinical investigators, practice-based researchers, research staff and learners are supported through LHSCRI's Office of Research Services and Research Operations Office. Research Operations are focused on integration of research in the hospital, and direct research support.

The successful candidate will work in the role of Research Coordinator. The Research Coordinator is required to coordinate local clinical research projects including observational and quality improvement studies and clinical trials for one or more Principal Investigators. This involves complete project management of the study, including supporting research ethics board submissions, data sharing agreements, participant enrollment and follow-up, database management, credentialing and training.

Rate of Pay: $33.64-$42.05

Hours of Work: Up to 15 hours per week

Duration: 1 year contract - possibility for renewal

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Administration of intravenous and intranasal research drugs
  • Coordinating and conducting study related procedures, interventions and assessments
  • Education and training of nurses, research assistants, and physicians as it pertains to given studies
  • Administration and oversight of a research study from design conceptualization to study close out
  • Assist research assistants with participant recruitment or data abstraction
  • Creation and maintenance of case report forms, study procedure manuals, and letters of consent
  • Communication with participants in studies that require follow-up
  • Data management including chart abstraction, data collection, coding, and database administration
  • Support the grant writing process including literature searches, signatures, and letters of support, if required.
  • Supporting the preparation or collecting of for study-specific health sciences research ethics board (REB) requirements including application, amendments, continuing ethics review, and data safety monitoring board
  • Ensure completion and maintenance of LHSCRI training requirements for clinical research including Good Clinical Practices (GCP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and Tri-Council Policy Statement (TCP)
  • Credentialing and training
  • Coordination of study-specific teleconferences
  • Perform work in accordance with LHSC/Western University's corporate/departmental policies and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety, Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans, and the Province of Ontario?s Personal Health Information Protection Act.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's level degree in health research methodology, health science, or related field
  • Certificate in clinical research (clinical trials certificate/diploma, Society of Clinical Research Associates, Association of Clinical Research Professionals) preferred
  • Experience with Health Canada CTA, GCPs, SOP, TCP, and research ethics preferred
  • Minimum three years of experience in clinical research
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and REDCap
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
