Primary Responsibilities:

The position is responsible for providing telephone reception service and responding to email enquiries for the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC).

What you will bring to the table:

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of general office procedures such as keyboarding, transcription, telephone etiquette, interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and prioritization skills necessary to carry out daily responsibilities including techniques to answer and redirect telephone calls.
  • Knowledge of the methods and procedures used to operate office equipment, such as a fax, photocopier, telephone answering equipment for carrying out daily reception, telecommunication and general office functions.
  • Proficiency in the use of a variety of computer software, such as the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook) as well as the Internet.

Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in French and English.
  • Ability to organize, multi-task and prioritize.

Personal suitability

  • Candidates are expected to demonstrate their commitment to union principles and social justice; and have knowledge of the political and operational structure of the PSAC.

  • Second language level indicated above is based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Preferred candidates may have their second language skills assessed as part of the hiring process. However, valid federal government SLE results can be used toward this.
