Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Administrator-Cybersecurity to join our dynamic Network Security, Government Solutions Delivery team, ensuring the robust protection of our critical network infrastructure. This individual will be responsible for implementing and maintaining network and security measures across our environment. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of network security principles, coupled with hands-on experience in configuring and managing network technologies in an enterprise environment.

Note:A Government of Canada PSPC security clearance at level SECRET (Level II) is required for this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Configure and maintain network security devices, specifically FortiGate firewalls, FortiManager, Citrix ADC, Cisco Firepower and NXOS.
  • Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify weaknesses in the network infrastructure and recommend appropriate remediation measures.
  • Collaborate with senior resources to design and implement secure network architectures, incorporating best practices for network segmentation and access control.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of network security policies, procedures, and configurations, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Respond to security incidents in a timely and effective manner, conduct thorough investigations and implement appropriate containment and eradication measures.
  • Stay up to date with the latest security threats and vulnerabilities, proactively researching and recommending new security technologies and techniques.
  • Participate in regular security audits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal security policies.
  • Automate network security tasks, configurations and processes using scripting languages like Python and Ansible.
  • Ability to travel to off-site data center locations when required for hands-on tasks, troubleshooting, or project implementations.
  • Participate in an on-call pager rotation schedule to provide timely response and escalation support for critical security incidents outside of normal business hours.

Critical Qualifications

  • A minimum of five years of experience in network security, with a focus on firewall management, network management, is a must-have.
  • Hands-on experience configuring and managing Cisco NXOS, Cisco Firepower, Citrix ADC, and FortiGate firewalls is an essential technical skill for this role.
  • Deep understanding of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, IPSec, BGP, eVPN, and VXLAN.
  • Strong understanding of network segmentation techniques, including VLANs, VRFs, and micro-segmentation.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python for automating network security tasks and incident response procedures is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve network security incidents, are essential for success.
  • Possessing a Fortinet Certified Professional (FCP), CCNA, or equivalent certification at a minimum, is highly recommended.
  • The candidate must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Government of Canada, Secret level clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with vulnerability assessment and penetration testing tools, along with the ability to analyze and interpret results, is a favourable skill.
  • Experience with Ansible automation platform is advantageous, enabling efficient configuration management and security orchestration.
  • Holding a CCNP or Fortinet Certified Security Specialist (FCSS) certification or equivalent is preferred.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks and standards, such as NIST, ISO 27001, and ITSG33, is a significant asset.
  • ITIL certification, or the ability to demonstrate knowledge of IT service management best practices is an asset.
  • Past participation in security conferences, workshops, and training programs demonstrates a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, information security, or a related field represents an important educational foundation for this position.

Additional Requirements

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented and the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously with sometimes aggressive timelines
  • Proven problem-solving ability with complex, technical and abstract concepts
  • A team player with the confidence to challenge and escalate when necessary
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, both in person and remotely, with little supervision.
