About the role
OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Credit Manager, the Credit Analyst supports the function and accuracy of the Credit Department by reviewing and maintaining credit applications, customer credit files, and payments. In this role, the Credit Analyst will issue dunning letters, manage delinquent accounts, and coordinate with external collections or legal services when needed. In addition, the role serves as the first point of contact for customer account inquiries, ensuring timely and professional communication, and contributes to credit and accounts receivable reporting, including support during budget preparation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Credit & Account Management
- Review and process new credit applications, including credit checks and recommendations on terms and limits.
- Maintain and review customer credit files, ensuring documentation is accurate and up to date.
- Work with the Credit Manager to review, adjust, or revoke credit terms as necessary, based on customer performance and financial strength.
- Prepare and issue dunning letters to customers with overdue balances in accordance with company policy.
- Identify accounts requiring external collections or legal action, coordinating with agencies or legal professionals when necessary.
- Provide back-up support for the Cash Applications function, including processing deposits, applying payments, pre-authorized debits, and credit card charges accurately to customer accounts.
Customer Service & Communication
- Act as the first point of contact for customer account inquiries, ensuring professional and timely responses.
- Maintain the Credit Department’s inquiry email inbox, directing requests to appropriate teams.
- Communicate clearly with External & Internal customers, to provide accounts updates.
- Demonstrate empathy, diplomacy, and professionalism in challenging customer interactions.
Reporting & Analysis
- Assist in the preparation of regular reporting on credit and AR.
- Assist with yearly Budget run and inquiries on the Company’s equal billing program for customers.
EDUCATION & SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:
- Relevant post-secondary education with Diploma/Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance.
- +3 years of accounts receivable and collections experience in a fast paced, large volume, multi transaction & multi class of trade environment.
- Strong computer skills, and ability to leverage technology efficiently.
- Effective listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Proven judgment and decision-making ability demonstrating the ability to generate strong collections while maintaining customer satisfaction.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated integrity and ethical standards.
- Able to handle difficult situations with diplomacy and tact.
- The ability to communicate in both official languages will be considered an asset.
- Ability to multi-task and juggle competing deadlines and multiple priorities.
- Experience in the energy industry at the distribution, retail & wholesale levels will be considered an asset.
