PURPOSE OF JOB
The Night Production Supervisor, Print Services is responsible for leading the evening production operations within our in-store print facility in St. John's, NL. This role supports multiple Newfoundland locations by fulfilling customer and store print orders during off-hours. In addition to managing nightly production, this position will provide some customer support during evenings before closing, uncover operational inefficiencies, and continuously seek process improvement. The supervisor leads a small team (1–2 associates), with a strong focus on quality, turnaround time, and operational excellence. An entrepreneurial mindset, adaptability, and organizational strength are essential. Prior print experience is not required but considered an asset.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Production & Operational Leadership
- Supervise and aid in all nightly production, ensuring accuracy, quality, and timely turnaround of orders.
- Coordinate nightly workflow to fulfill both consumer and business print needs, including orders routed from spoke stores.
- Monitor service level agreements (SLAs) and proactively communicate progress and concerns.
- Troubleshoot production issues, escalate technical concerns, and ensure continuity of workflow.
- Maintain accurate tracking and reporting using the production log and print dashboard tools.
Customer Experience & Service
- Provide direct customer support and order intake during final business hours before store closing.
- Engage customers with professionalism, offering tailored print solutions and advice where required.
- Ensure customer information and privacy standards are upheld across all transactions.
Team Leadership
- Coach and supervise a small night production team, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Train associates in equipment use, print workflows, and quality standards.
- Support performance development through feedback, coaching, and informal reviews.
Process Improvement & Innovation
- Identify and address inefficiencies in nightly production and team workflow.
- Partner with leadership to suggest and pilot process enhancements, new workflows, or equipment usage strategies.
Inventory, Maintenance & Compliance

Oversee inventory levels of print materials and supplies; reorder as needed.

Conduct equipment maintenance routines and escalate repair needs as required. Ensure compliance with health & safety protocols and maintain a clean, safe working environment.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Demonstrated leadership ability.

Technology acumen with digital print and finishing equipment, computer hardware and software.

Familiarity with digital and specialty print products and production techniques.

Ability to plan, organize and prioritize efficiently to effectively service the clients.

Ability to engage clients in a friendly and professional manner.

Ability to work effectively with ongoing distractions is necessary.

Capacity to communicate with associates, partners and clients effectively using a variety of mediums.

Can engage appropriately and develop a team environment.

Capacity to consistently work independently and seek out assistance as required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS

Conditions of the work environment are such that minor stress or physical discomfort may occur.

You are required to stand in a stationary position for periods of time. This would occur while working on various orders.

You will be exposed to moderately disagreeable levels of noise generated by the operation of production equipment.
-
A moderate amount of physical effort is required while stocking copy supplies and shipping orders, you are capable of choosing when to stop and relax.
RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
- 2-3 years progressive experience in retail with previous supervisory and coaching experience.
Education:

Successful completion of high school or greater.
