The role

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for the front-line implementation of human resources programs including recruitment and retention, employee relations, staff development, performance management and occupational health & safety for all Ontario based locations.

What you will focus on

  • Communicate Human Resources policies, procedures, laws, standards and regulations to the team;
  • Administer and educate employees on all company programs;
  • Ensure effective exit interviews and provide management with analysis and recommendations;
  • Provide resolutions to employee relation issues (e.g. employee complaints and harassment allegations);
  • Perform interviews, screens, and recruit for entry level, professional and technical job openings;
  • Recommend, develop and maintain human resource databases, computer software systems, and manual filing systems;
  • Develop and provide recommendations for policies and processes;
  • Keep up-to-date on applicable HR legislation and make recommendations for enhancements to employee handbooks, and compliance reporting to government agencies and internal audits;
  • Benefit administration;
  • Manage the onboarding and off boarding of employees
  • Other duties as assigned

What we’re looking for

  • Completion of a College diploma or University degree specializing in Business or Human Resource Management and possessing the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP);
  • 4-6 years of Human Resources Generalist experience with a focus in the areas of employee relations, recruitment and selection, health and safety, program management, benefit administration and legislative issues;
  • Strong general knowledge of Human Resources practices and principles with excellent judgment and consulting skills related to regulations, laws and policies: ESA, OH&sa;
  • Knowledge on organizational change, culture transformation processes and change management and interpretation of company policies and procedures;
  • Strong computer literacy – MS Office products – Outlook, Word, Excel as well as ability and comfortable with the use of web-based social media recruiting tools – LinkedIn.
  • Ability to manage and complete tasks with attention to detail with changing priorities;
  • Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization;
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times;
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality;
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision;
  • Experience with HRIS, strong preference for Bamboo
  • As part of the employment criteria, individuals need to meet company criminal check requirements
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
