Pharmacy Technician - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Pharmacy - Temporary Full-Time 2025-15328 (2025-15328)
About the role
We currently have a temporary 1-year full time vacancy for a Pharmacy technician in the Neonatal Intensive Care Pharmacy.
The pharmacy technician duties can be broadly divided into the following areas: order entry, drug distribution, sterile and non-sterile compounding and inventory management. Responsibilities include tasks such as medication order entry, medication order pick-up/delivery of medications, dispensing medication orders, filling and delivery of medication orders, and performing the necessary functions on computers while meeting pharmacy standards for accuracy and speed; being able to complete sterile product preparation for IV admixture and hazardous drugs, utilizing aseptic technique; and being able to complete the necessary mathematical calculations and translating these calculations to the proper equipment to ensure accurate measurement in the preparation of products. Other pharmacy technician duties included are inventory management, ordering and receiving of drugs and supplies, and documentation of staff meeting discussions. Shifts are 12 hours in length.
Qualifications/Skills
- Recent prior work experience in a hospital pharmacy preferred
- Experience in sterile compounding preferred.
- Completion of Sunnybrook sterile IV admixture medication preparation training and annual recertification will be required (training provided)
- Current licensure by the Ontario College of Pharmacists is preferred.
- Pharmacy Technician Trainees who have completed a recognized pharmacy technician college diploma or foreign trained pharmacists who are actively pursuing registration as a pharmacy technician with the Ontario College of Pharmacists will be considered and are invited to apply.
- Able to work in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to concentrate despite distractions
- Must work effectively with minimum of direction or within a team setting
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Detail oriented
- Self-motivated and able to take initiative
- Reliable with good attendance record
- Customer service skills and empathetic manner
