The Opportunity:

We are recruiting for a MENTAL HEALTH CLINICIAN (Children’s Services)

  • This is a contract full***-time opportunity until August 28, 2026 (35 hours per week Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm with evening hours as needed) based at 737 Woolwich St. Guelph.***

Reporting to the Manager, Children’s Services, the successful candidate will be committed to assisting youth and their families/caregivers and support systems to address issues of substance use health and mental health. This will include providing comprehensive assessments, individual and group clinical services, and consultation to community partners. The successful candidate will provide harm reduction and recovery-oriented treatment and support to youth and their families. The focus will be on youth ages 12 to 25.

Qualifications:

    • Masters level degree in psychology, social work or relevant health or social science field
    • Education and training specific to substance use and concurrent disorders
    • Registration with relevant college/registering body
    • Three or more years of experience working in the field of substance use health and mental health with high-risk children and youth with complex needs
    • Well developed assessment, intervention and support skills
    • Ability to work well under pressure in both a team environment and independently
    • Knowledge of a broad range of substance use health and concurrent issues
    • Knowledge of the system’s addiction and mental health supports and resources
    • Knowledge and understanding or previous DBT training in individual and group.
    • Knowledge and understanding of Adverse Childhood Experiences and Trauma Informed Practices
    • Good organizational, communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
    • Demonstrated sound clinical and practical judgement
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a busy inter-disciplinary setting and with formal and informal community resources
    • Demonstrated understanding and sensitivity to social and cultural diversity
    • Well-developed knowledge base of the various service systems within the catchment area
    • Demonstrated belief in the values and philosophy of CMHA WW
    • Proficiency with MS Office, Outlook and various database software
    • A valid driver’s license, vehicle and insurance, as travel is required

CLASSIFICATION AND RATE OF PAY: Level 6 (OPSEU) - $37.09 TO $45.21 per hour
