We are seeking a skilled and motivated SCADA Technologist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and ongoing development of our Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. This is a technically challenging position that offers the opportunity to work on complex automation and control systems while contributing to critical infrastructure and operations.
You will exercise a high degree of independence, applying your expertise in process control, system design, and troubleshooting to ensure reliable and efficient system performance.
###Key Responsibilities
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot SCADA systems and related infrastructure
- Install, program, test, and adjust RTUs, PLCs, and associated field instrumentation
- Develop and modify HMI systems and graphical interfaces
- Monitor system performance and respond to failures or malfunctions
- Diagnose issues and coordinate repairs to ensure system reliability
- Conduct site inspections and system testing (including factory and site acceptance testing)
- Prepare and manage project and maintenance schedules
- Perform system design and layout work, review plans and drawings for compliance with standards
- Coordinate system upgrades, modifications, and related projects
- Liaise with internal staff, vendors, consultants, and third-party organizations
- Provide technical guidance and support as required
###Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of industrial software applications and computer operating systems related to SCADA and control systems
- Sound understanding of process automation and control principles, including system design, installation, and maintenance
- Knowledge of electrical systems, components, and applicable codes
- Awareness of occupational hazards and safety practices related to the work
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills with the ability to take corrective action
- Ability to prepare and maintain technical reports, records, and documentation
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Proficiency in the use of tools and equipment related to SCADA and control systems
###Required Qualifications
- Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Considerable related experience in SCADA, automation, or process control systems
- Eligibility for certification as an Applied Science Technologist (ASTTBC) in British Columbia
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence
