Girl Guides of Canada is actively seeking a Financial Systems Lead, Financial Reporting Remote working arrangement About This Opportunity Reporting to the Manager, Reporting and Analysis, the Financial Systems Specialist designs, implements and maintains financial software and systems to ensure accuracy and support business decisions. This role bridges finance and technology by analyzing financial processes, creating reports and troubleshooting system issues.

Position Specifics Responsibilities In this role you will have following key responsibilities: System Maintenance & Support

  • Maintain GGC’s financial reporting (Sage) and budgeting systems (VENA) and related processes.
  • Maintain general ledger (receive, review, and implement client requests for general ledger changes, add new accounts, modify reporting hierarchies, etc.).
  • Responsible for interaction/integration between financial reporting systems and between financial reporting and budgeting systems to ensure all financial systems have complete information.
  • Work closely with IT Team to ensure financial systems are secure, stable, and performing as designed.
  • Ensure appropriate levels of user access to systems, including onboarding and offboarding of staff.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues through root cause analysis and problem solving.
  • Install system upgrades, and support integrations and automation initiatives, including implementation of new financial system solutions. Lead and document testing of changes prior to implementation.
  • Review system functionality and make recommendations for more efficient operations.
  • Support finance team’s use of complex excel files (or similar) to resolve issues (e.g. troubleshooting macro questions).

Financial and Budget Reporting

  • Assist in preparation of monthly statements including variance analysis: assist in the preparation and analysis of budget information.
  • Manage large volumes of data, complete detailed reconciliations, and other special projects as assigned, including regular intercompany transfers.
  • Run monthly and yearly financial reports based on agreed-upon timelines as well as budget reports during the budget cycle.
  • Support finance team by running reports or extracting data from systems needed to complete reconciliations and support the annual external audit process.
  • Develop new financial or budget reports to support needs of organization as well as ad-hoc information requests.
  • Proactively work with the other departments to determine financial information requirements and develop reports to support those requirements.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Prepare and maintain process documentation for areas of responsibility.
  • Comply with record retention requirements for financial records.

General

  • Adheres to all relevant policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Provide general, ongoing support to members/volunteers, respond to/direct inquiries and consult with the appropriate groups and individuals to support the mission and vision of GGC.
  • Apply organizational policies regarding diversity, inclusivity and equity to content, member communication and customer service.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related financial field.
  • Post-secondary courses in financial system management.
  • 4+ years experience including
  • 2+ years experience maintaining financial systems and
  • 2+ years experience working as a member of a finance team responsible for month and year-end close and working with external auditor
  • Advanced level proficiency with MS Office; Office 365, Advanced Excel including various VLOOKUP formulas and macros.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to analyze financial transactions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills that rely on a structured approach with the ability to learn new concepts/processes.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent organizational abilities with the ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks.
  • Positive and committed team player.
  • Experience working with enterprise platforms such as CRMs, ERPs, with large volumes of data to organize and reconcile.

Assets

  • Have completed or are currently enrolled in the CPA program.
  • Experience working with Sage, Vena, PowerBI and Python
  • Experience working with not-for profit organizations with a large volunteer base

Hiring Range: $65,100 to $76,830 Annually
